   This is a pitiful menu, a small step above a bar car menu on Amtrak. The chicken Caesar wrap was acceptable but not particularly appetizing. No one else was in the restaurant and it felt cold and dark and uninviting. Our Dr er was very nice and attentive but then we were her only customers for over an hour after noon. The hotel it’s attached to has a street buzzer to let you in. Bad news for downtown KC.

   There was practically zero staff working. The manager did as well as he could to keep people served but this isn’t a serious restaurant. The food was mediocre at best and the main ingredient was salt. Skip it and go somewhere else.

   I am unsure if they were short-staffed, but the service was prolonged and delayed. The food was exceptional, cocktails were delicious and the overall ambiance was gorgeous.

   I have had service issues in the past but this experience was the worst. Lack of servers required the bartender to wait on tables (which I've noticed previously) with help from the hostess who obviously had no experience with this job). Long delay receiving food (was an issue as I had a performance to attend) and when it was delivered, one of the entrees was incorrect. Not enough time to rectify the situation so I missed dinner. Despite expressing concerns, we received only an apology from the bartender and told to reach out to management after the fact. An email was sent to management team the following day but have not received a response. No plans to return unless there is a change in management and attitude.

   This was our first experience with Tavernonna and we were out on a date night. The food was amazing and we would definitely return!

   Food good, service very good. Took in excess of 30 minutes from the time the order was placed until served. Ordered pizza with white sauce, it came with red sauce.

   We enjoyed a nice, leisurely meal before a show at the Folly Theater. The chicken parm was very good. The tiramisu was excellent! The servers were charming, and the service was efficient. We will definitely return.

   We made a reservation here for dinner since we were staying at Hotel Phillips. It was my husband and I’s first overnight away since our son was born and given the menu prices and online photos we had high expectations. The table we were seated at wasn’t very clean. I wore a white dress and needed to wipe away my own seat to not get it dirty. We’d looked at the menu online before coming so we’d know what we wanted ahead of time. The menu in the restaurant was much smaller than online. They don’t have the build your own pasta menu page at all. Ok…so we ordered the next thing we wanted, KC Strip Oscar Supreme ($68). They were out of the Hollandaise. Ordered the next thing we wanted, Arrabiata squid ink pasta ($42). It came out with shrimp…but no Maine lobster claw like the menu showed. We had to figure out that mistake ourself, no one was forthcoming about the fact that they were out of lobster claw. At this point we were very soured and disappointed that this really special night away was starting this way. We paid for our drink & appetizer and went somewhere else. We will not be returning.

    I was really hoping I would like this place but it was just not. When someone finally waited on us….we did have great cocktails. That was a plus! They were out of meatballs…which is very odd being an Italian restaurant. The carbonara was good, but it was very, very salty. Wine was nice, but overpriced by the glass. Unfortunately not worth going back! Downtown has way better restaurants, especially for the cost. 2 cocktails, 2 meals, 2 wine = 150 before tip.
