   What a hidden gem in the city! This cool restaurant is in the old Emily Griffith Opportunity School that was built in the early 1900's. It's been converted into a hotel called Slate. I love the ambience and the meshing of old and new. I can still see remnants of the old school but with a modern vibe now. The food was awesome, and our wait staff was so friendly. Love this place! We'll be back.

   Wonderful! Went for restaurant week and everything was amazing! Service was great as usual! We stayed overnight at the Slate hotel and had breakfast the next morning! YUMMY! WONDERFUL restaurant and hotel!

   The food is always good here, but in the past, the service/timing has been pretty slow. Last night was very good. Our waiter was professional, prompt, efficient and friendly. Thanks!

   Not a lot of food choices and two of the three entrees were fairly bland. Cute idea for a theme but the server seemed to be a little out of it and overall it was just ok.

   We had great service and the food was really good. The space is in the hotel lobby. The hotel is beautiful. But the restaurant is kind of boring. The furniture is nice but blah.

    I am giving overall a 3 star. Went for their special valentine dinner and made a reservation a week in advance. Was seated in the bar area right next to a band playing jazz. Normally I would like this but it was too loud to have a conversation with my date. Actually had to turn down my hearing aids! But thankfully that only lasted about 20 minutes, which was the amount of time ( it felt like) for the waiter to even acknowledge us and take our drink order. We both got the special which consisted of a beet and goat cheese appetizer, filet Oscar, and a raspberry mousse for dessert. The app was pretty good if you like beets, the filet was ok, nothing special. It was served with those potatoes sticks you buy in a can. SMH! The dessert was good and the wine pairings were good as well. Love the concept and the history of the place, just overall an average place . The service made it worse imo.
