   I don't normally write reviews for restaurants, but after heavily researching where I would go out for dinner in Sacramento, I feel the need to make a post. Generally, this restaurant gets four stars plus on review sites, and I saw a note on their website for Michelin in 2019, so I thought it would be great. I also booked because their mocktails looked good. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos. The shrimp was cooked but cold. It also came out really fast, so it couldn't been waiting for the server for a while. It doesn't take long to cook shrimp, so I don't understand why it wasn't made to order. Additionally, the mocktails on the menu in the restaurant were quite different and seemed much more basic. Really underwhelming. I left pretty quickly to find freshly cooked hot food.

   Overall, it was a good dining experience. However, there were some issues with the service, including an entrée order not being put in on time (and there were only two diners). The boozy, arty tequila bar vibe was fun, and the food was actually quite good with really good, big flavors. Dessert, however, was very poor, including a chocoflan where the chocolate cake was hard and dried out. Ending the meal on the low point of dessert was disappointing, so I left feeling like the value was middling at best. That said I, would go back with a bigger group and be more strategic in what I ordered. And I would definitely do dessert at a different location.

   The food and drinks are always a high mark for quality, flavor and consistency. But the service is always outstanding.

   Once again, we had a wonderful time at Mayahuel. The food was great, the service was great, and the location was perfect for our evening activities. Unfortunately, we would have rated our experience higher if the bathrooms were cleaner. True to form, every time we dine at this restaurant, the bathrooms are in terrible shape. Nothing seems to change about this. Someone needs to be put in charge of bathroom duty and the bathrooms need to be cleaned regularly. When the bathrooms are dirty, it not only sends the message that the customers are not appreciated, it sends the message that the employees themselves do not have a clean place. Something needs to be done about this as soon as possible, as this has been the situation for years. If Mayahuel can resolve the bathroom issue, our rating would be higher. So hopefully something changes.

   We had the amazing opportunity to experience Mayahuel on a Dine-Out Downtown promotion. Four courses for $45/person. The food was amazing, the portions were small. Likely, the portions would be larger on a non-promotion menu, but the costs higher. Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely go back.

   Food was cold, parts of the meal were different than stated on the menu, some things were forgotten and brought later after flagging down the server. Not great service. However, the food did have good flavor.

   Had an amazing meal. Fun environment with great mariachi music in a Friday night. Tasty chips and sales and the pork was fabulous.
