About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for brunch
Since our opening in 2008, Terrain Cafe grew naturally from a small coffee shop nestled in the store to a full-service restaurant offering seasonally inspired brunch, dinner, and beverage menus. Our dedicated culinary team works closely with purveyors to ethically source fresh, high-quality ingredients that lay the foundation for our nourishing dishes. Each cafe's unique and deliberately designed environment blurs the line between indoor and outdoor spaces, providing an inspiring dining experience every time. This specific cafe will always have unique roots, and we'll undoubtedly remain embedded in them as we grow.

Our patio is open for walk-ins only!

I usually love Terrain. We booked outside seating in then Woodland Village. Once we were seated, there was miscommunication in the restaurant and they forget about us. We called the front desk after about 25-minutes to ask for a server to come see us. They tried to make up for it, but overall the service was slow. We ordered 6 oz glasses of wine, and our first serve was quite small (think they gave us 4oz as our 2nd glass seemed more the appropriate size). Just also as an FYI, the Woodland Village is super cute and nice, but quiet. Background music would be nice, but that is just my preference.

The service was impeccable and we love the atmosphere. It is such a treat to lunch in the greenhouse part of the restaurant. We drove from Lewes because we had some expiring gift cards that we needed to use and it was well worth the ride. The last time we were here was in December , for dinner and it was very crowded and they were out of a lot of things by the time we ordered. This time we came for lunch and it was not as bad. We started with the hummus which was so creamy and flavorful, I think it was my favorite of the day. We also shared the Quinoa fritters, where were moist and delicious. I had the Chicken pot pie, which had great flavor but I really needed a spoon to eat it it. It needed bigger chunks of chicken and carrots. The shrimp and grits were a little sweeter that we expected but we really liked all the flavors together. The hamburger was cooked to perfection and the bun was so soft. We ordered 3 desserts and loved everyone especially the cheesecake which was so creamy. We finished our visit enjoying the rest of the property and shop and left with a smile on our faces. I can't wait to come back.

As a frequent guest, I was Very disappointed in the preparation of the menu items we had on 3/24. Mussels appetizer and Salmon entree were overcooked. Salmon flavor was bland and mussel “sauce” was overpowering.

Terrain is one of my favorite dining spots in Delaware County. Not only is the food delicious, but the setting is lovely - eating in a greenhouse! Best of all is the browsing before and after eating going through the beautiful shop for food, soaps, candles, plants, dishes, etc. A feast for the senses!

Did not get seated until 45 minutes after our reservation. Meals were forgotten and we got random side plates of food that was not ordered and we were charged for. The manager did not offer any apologies and was miserable. Sadly, will not be coming back to this location.

We made a reservation for 1:45pm for a private tent. The fee for the tent is $35, which we thought was a little crazy, but it was our only option. There are some rules for the tent: max of 2 hours; 15 min allowance for check-in. We arrived at 1:35 and checked in. It was busy. We were told we would get a text when the tent was ready. At 2pm, we checked again. The people before us were still in the tent. It was another 17 minutes before we were taken to out tent. There is not an area to sit and they tell you to go to the shop and look around. We had someone in a walker and they were able to get a chair for her to sit down. We all thought the wait time was excessive. It seemed very disorganized. Our 2 hour timer started when we sat down in our tent. The tent was a tiny house. Its very charming. There are blankets and a heater. Lightly decorated. There are also windows that open. We all agreed the $35 fee was worth the privacy. Our waiter was good overall. The drinks were all good. We had a combination of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. The cheese board was disappointing. It was a lot of fruit. A very small bit of prosciutto was an additional $4. Bread comes with the experience. It comes in adorable garden pots but you have to cut the “loaf” with a butter knife which was a challenge. The shrimp and grits looked delicious as did the omelets. The arugula and apple salad was just ok. The spicy kale falafel didn’t come out with the salad and were also ok. We ordered the dessert tray which was a highlight. It had several deserts that we cut so we could all try them. We also ordered coffee and special coffees. All good. Overall we had a great time.

Our experience was great. The food was delicious. However, I am not sure why the appetizer and salad came out at the same time. This was not a big deal bc it was a cold app but if it was a warm app it’s just too much food at once to eat. And I don’t want to try to eat that much food at once. I want to enjoy my experience. Appetizer then salad then meal then dessert. This is the 2nd time this happened here, last time it was a warm app. I will have to remember to ask for them to come out separately.

The food quality at Terrain is not as imaginative as it used to be and the quality seems to have declined. Ambience and service are good.

It is an experience when you go here. The plants, the scents of the candles - all very charming. The restaurant is also charming. I would call it rustic barn chic. The service was good. The only complaint I have is that no sooner did they bring out our appetizers, they came with our entrees. I thought they were going to rush us out - but they didn’t. Which was great, but gave both your apps and your main course in the table was not great. If I were to go back I would definitely say something. Other than that - it was a very pleasant experience all around
