Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Bentwood Toronto offers a convenient pre-show dining experience with "great service" and "delicious" food. The brisket sliders are a highlight. While some dishes like the chocolate olive oil cake and shrimp satay may disappoint, the staff's attentiveness and friendly atmosphere make it a pleasant stop.

Having the bentwood as part of second city is a great idea however it was winterlicious, and there was no indication on the website that the full menu was not available so when we got there, that was a surprise to us. the food quality was average. The service was subpar, especially given that we told them we were going to the show. we had to keep asking for the server to bring our drinks, Bring our food bring our bill. More staff was needed at that particular time of day in order to support everybody going to the show and bringing out orders in time. The price point is also too high given the quality or lack thereof of food. Our server was friendly but they seemed under staffed.

We dined at Bentwood for winterlicious. Potato skin appetizer was delicious. Salmon main course was good but there were bones in it. My friend got the chicken and found it on the dry side. Lemon creme brulee dessert was amazing. Loved the ambiance and the service was good!! Not a bad experience for the price!

We went on a Tuesday night, so the Bar area on the one side wasn’t really happening, it looks like a great area though. The restaurant side is very casual … it’s convenient to go straight into the show from there. The food was pretty good, we were there for the Winterlicious menu and although it was nothing to rave about, they did a nice job with the dishes. Ambiance is OK, feels more like a sports bar than a restaurant. Service wasn’t great… It didn’t seem like meals other than bar food was their forté. They were a little slow and had to ask for utensils, napkins etc. also they didn’t offer water without asking. Overall it’s was good.

Food was excellent. The cocktails were decent. The service was slow as I had to order my drinks there as the waiter was busy on other tables.

The location is close to the Scotiabank Arena if you are going to a hockey game or concert. The food was mediocre at best. 3 in our party ordered the burger, 2 were fine and 1 had a lot less meat in it which was strange because they all ordered the same thing but 2 were on a GF bun. My daughter had the mac and cheese bites which she really enjoyed. We did ask for a kids menu but was told they no longer have one even though the website shows a kids menu. Stay clear of the shrimp satay. It was dry, salty and had an odd taste like strong soy sauce. The cilantro & cumin falafel was also disappointing. It was listed under Table Bites on the menu but it arrived as a salad and is not listed in the salad section of the menu. I was expecting some bite size falafels with a tahini dip with cilantro and mint but instead it was 1 small falafel broken up into pieces on romaine lettuce with tahini dressing. It was also quite spicy even though I asked the waitress to keep the pickled chilies off to the side and told her I can't eat anything too spicy. The atmosphere was fine but the food was a big disappointment. I would have called the manager over to let them know about the subpar meals but we were in a rush to get to the game. I doubt we will go back.

Staff at the Brentwood were wonderful and ensured we received our meal in order to make it in time for the show. Food was delicious. Only disappointment was the chocolate olive oil cake which arrived cold and tasted rubbery . It was not warm as described , and the fruit was off.

Hospitable spot to eat before the show or continuing eating while watching the show. So many choices, will not leave hungry.
