Welcome to The Blue Lion, we are a village pub offering great quality locally sourced food, excellent atmosphere and real ales.
Take a refreshing beverage outside to the shared beer garden and simply enjoy the fresh countryside air in the enclosed setting.
We are situated in the small village of Cynwyd, which lies in the Upper Dee Valley, close to the banks of the famous River Dee. Situated in the foothills of the scenic Berwyn Mountains, the village has a picturesque waterfall and a beautiful arched bridge over the river.

    Booked the table 4 days in advance only to get a phone call 1 hour before dinning to let us know that food wasn’t available on the night that we had booked for. The table was booked for a birthday meal & due to being told one hour before we were due we had a very disappointed son. Thanks for nothing Blue Lion.

    Charming little pub we came across. The food and service were surprisingly good. We had the Salmon and the Steak, and enjoyed both.

    I ordered a pie & chips which was delicious. However, my husband ordered chicken which was supposed to come with corn and gravy but it didn’t come and when he asked they said they ran out of corn and didn’t offer anything else. Also, It was too noisy in a small room I couldn’t hear my husband opposite. Overall, the food tastes great but not good for a romantic meal.

    We dined here twice on our recent holiday. What a hidden gem. The food was fantastic. The menu had so much choice that it was so hard to choose just 1 dish. Service was excellent too. Friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit here.
