The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner.     We were a group of six celebrating birthdays. Our service was excellent, the food delicious and our server had good suggestions. Although we were between two partitions, it was still a bit noisy.

    started with the croquettes - delicious. pan fried haddock for the main - also delicious. ditto for the brownie. Service was professional, yet casual and friendly.

    First time going for dinner (only lunch before) and did not disappoint! Had to try the burger which was so good! Special shout out on the new pavlova dessert: the BEST I’ve ever eaten, anywhere. Perfect merengue and beautifully crafted! Definitely will be back!

    This was my first time at The Canteen, which shocked even me, living in the HRM my whole life, because I know how much of a staple it is in Dartmouth. The food was excellent and I recommend the shrimp dip and the scallops -- ESPECIALLY the scallops.
