   Traveling for biz, staying in downtown MIL next door to the Cap Grille. Finished a very long day, late return to hotel, hopped on OT and booked a table for 845--as the OT for the Capital Grille was showing booking options at 830, 845 and 9pm. Arrived early (825) and was promptly--and VERY BLUNTLY told by the unsmiling hostess: "Just so you know, the kitchen closes at 9, so you'll need to be done by then." (Wow, nice first impression). I promptly pointed out to her that (1) I'm a solo biz diner, which means (2) I eat fast, and (3) usually tip well. But she absolutely RUINED the mood for me--after a rough day I wanted to be pampered a bit with a nice meal. Instead, my experience started with a buzz saw b(*$ch of a welcome. The good news? The bartender (I sat and ate at the bar) saved everything and was awesome. And the ironic part? I already knew what I wanted, I ordered, was served and ate and left BEFORE the table that was sitting in the bar when I got there. So where as Miss Hostess to throw THEM out or cop attitude with them? Overall, I am not sure I'd return because I prefer service staff who are pleasant and guest-centric--not overly attitudinal. Seriously, she KILLED my mood entirely. And the IRONY? The entire time I was sitting at the bar, OT showed--and would have allowed me to make--a reservation for 9PM. SO, I can only imagine what the hostess would have said had I showed her that. Sheesh.

   We go here on occasion because we live locally. I would definitely recommend going. Everything I’ve gotten has been wonderful. However tonight the Seabass was not very tasty. It was cold, less flavorful, and almost like it was overcooked and rubbery. It was served with asparagus. The tips of the asparagus were not snipped off enough, so ends were woody.

   I’ve been to The Capital Grille a few times for family dinners, and it’s a favorite for my husband and his kids. First Impressions: The restaurant has a swanky, upscale feel with moody lighting and a sleek, attractive bar. Valet parking is available on certain days. My family and I enjoy starting with a cocktail before being seated; my go-to is the Stoli Doli. I don’t typically drink martinis, but this one is served ice cold with a refreshing pineapple-infused vodka. One is plenty for me. Our Dining Experience: We dined on a Wednesday at 5 PM, and the staff was busy preparing for multiple events, including a party of 80! Despite the hustle, service remained exceptional. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance to ensure a smooth experience. Appetizers: •Lobster Bisque – Nice consistency, but I found it a little under-seasoned and added fresh cracked pepper for extra flavor. •Crab Cake – Delicious. A generous portion with plenty of lump crab and great flavor. •Caesar Salad – A miss for me. It was too tangy, and there was way more Parmesan than romaine—I wouldn’t order it again. Entrée & Sides: I ordered the chef-recommended sliced filet with onions and mushrooms. It was good, but not the best—I like bold flavors, so I added a side of Béarnaise sauce, which made it much better. For sides, we had: •Mashed Potatoes – Decent, but nothing extraordinary. •Brussels Sprouts & Creamed Spinach – I didn't like either and could’ve skipped them altogether. Dessert: We finished with The Capital Grille’s famous Coconut Cream Pie, and it was delicious. Creamy, rich, and generously portioned. Final Thoughts: Overall, great service and atmosphere, but some dishes were hit or miss.

   We were promptly seated ..to notice Birthday Cards written to us personally:) Our Server Kristen was thoughtful & generous Steaks & Lobster Flavorful/grilled to specification Truffle Fries & Brussels perfect accompaniment Lobster Mac: rich & loaded Chef sent us an Amuse bouche;delicious Capital Grille sent out a lovely & decadent dessert A place we will make future memories!
