Situated down a quiet side street, on the corner of elegant St Peter’s Square, The Carpenter’s Arms is an independent nineteenth-century pub with a beautiful garden where the food is the star.

We focus on simple, beautifully cooked seasonal food. Our menu and Specials Board change daily: Simply cooked sustainable fish; British meats; delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes and tempting puddings to finish. Simple dishes, big flavours.

We are just as serious about good drink as we are about good food. Our well stocked bar helps keep the relaxed and convivial spirit of a local boozer very much alive.

We operate a rotating list of guest real ales, as well as world wines from just under £30 a bottle. We also serve the only cocktails worth filling the glass for – a negroni for lunch, a martini before dinner, an Old Fashioned when you need a stiff drink, a Margarita for when you want to pretend you’re on holiday and a Bloody Mary for the morning after.

    Join Butter Wakefield for an ‘al-fresco’ workshop in The Carpenter’s Garden from 6pm on the 15th of April. Award-winning garden designer and West-London local Butter Wakefield, who is known for her joyful use of home-grown blooms and very decorative Easter tablescapes, will be hosting a seasonal flower arranging masterclass. Butter has designed some of London’s most charming gardens over the last 20 years and loves to share her passion for curating small spaces with both expert and novice gardeners.

    I felt sorry for the lone waitress who was serving the entire pub, though it wasn't full. I think she may have been quite new as she wasn't completely sure of all ingredients. We selected a great Negromaro wine at a reasonable £34 a bottle. The fish daily special was seared Tuna but it lacked vegetables in quantity but it left room for a heavier desert. At nearly £50 per head it wasn't the cheapest in the area. My companions were not keen to return.

    We are locals and the roast was pretty basic with afew potatoes and red cabbage which ruined the flavour - should have had more greens and meat Service was great though

    Great for a Sunday roast! We always try and get a place by the fire. Lovely atmosphere and incredible sticky toffee pudding! Only small negative would be that the chef tends to seriously overcook the Yorkshire pudding to the point it’s no longer edible. Rest of the lamb roast is gorgeous though!

    Lovely service. Very expensive for two people at a total of £115 for two roast dinners and one starter and two desserts. Personal gripe with the potatoes which seemed more boiled than roasted. I know they were roasted but not great.
