Very good food - huge portions so we shared a main course. Real pub atmosphere and friendly staff. We’ll be back!

Something sad is going on at the "Chelsea Pig". It would be easy to say they are making a Pig's Ear of it but that is exactly what it seems. Two of us who meet there for lunch regularly were shocked to find "a problem in the cellar" meant that all decent beer was off. Worse was to follow with almost inedible food. A trying-hard and sweet waiter couldn't make up for a surly, rude manager figure who seemed more engaged in his own life than the slow death of the establishment he was supposed to be running. Never again.

Recommend with reservations. Pub down our street when we're in London and we always dined there when we flew in from USA. We were surprised to find the name had changed, its owner was a chain of pubs, the menu was different, and it was very noisy thanks to a huge crowd of British Airline people. Our dinner was OK but not the same, and at least they served our favorite "sticky toffee pudding". I put this down to "growing pains" and we returned 2 1/2 weeks later. The service was slow though we were the only people in the dining area; good soup, mains course odd: - big tough fatty pork chop with a bit of sweet corn and popcorn (?) sprinkled around, and some greens. I love corn and expected it separate from the meat, but this was hard to find and had come out of a can. Sticky toffee pudding still the best. I hope all this was thanks to "growing pains" and will give it a try when we next visit London. The tiny kitchen is on the first floor connected by a dumb waiter and when the servers get used to this it should be better. Food out of this small space was always good and they should serve what they can do well, not try to be fancy. It has always been popular and still is, and as it is a 5 minute walk from our house and the closest pub for tired fliers like us, I will still give it a chance.....the ambiance is there..now they've got to serve good old pub food and not try to dress it up too much. I would hate to see the owners do that. Keep your fingers crossed....

I love the Chelsea Pig its a great pub, I'm not however loving the new menu. I feel like they have simplified things a bit to much and there are not as many options as there used to be. Two of our favourites the fish and chips and the sticky toffee pudding have been removed which is really disappointing. Of course we will still keep going back I just wished they would do a second round of menu tweaks.

Firstly the woman who first served us was lovely...However once she had left it all sort of went downhill...My pork chop came with "popcorn" there is a reason I have never seen this on a menu before...it was awful - no other sides were served with it apart from some soggy salad and there was no adequate option on the menu (mash?roast potatoes) so I had it with some wedge chips which were also very below par (please change the frying oil guys) The desserts took ages to come and when they did the order was wrong...we took it anyway - one dry almost inedible brownie. I ate here years ago and it was really good - not sure what's happened to the place but apart from the friendly staff, this was really disappointing and I won't be back any time soon.
