The Commoner in Downtown Pittsburgh is open for business!

At our gastropub, we don’t distinguish between commoners and kings; we just want to feed the good people of Pittsburgh. In the restaurant, seasonal menus add a modern flair to classic comforts, complemented by a robust selection of local beers and craft spirits. It’s all served in an industrial-inspired setting in downtown Pittsburgh. Come and join us for an uncommonly good time.

Thanksgiving buffet. Beautiful venue. $55 per person for meh food. Fine flavors, no bread. Cider cocktail not good. (Tried to make all four in our party drink it just to consume it.) Front staff was helpful.

The menu is quite limited, but possibly that is why what they serve is very good. The beet salad was exceptional, our entrees were quite good and the chocolate ganache was great. Wide selections of beer and wine. Service was great. Only suggestion - which is minor was both my husband and I had entrees with a sauce at the bottom of the chicken and salmon - both sauces were a little cold. Maybe it was plated before the meat and fish were done or maybe cool bowls??

Dined for brunch. The french toast was excellent and delicious. The frittata was a scrambled egg with cheese and tomato - would not order again. The Bloody Larry was very spicy, and I couldn't drink it. Our server was great.

Table-mate had Beef Tartar app and found it bland, but I found it tasty. My Caesar Salad was excellent. Both entrees were excellent as well (salmon, pork), and the drinks and wines the wait staff helped us pick were good compliments.

Not impressed. I would never dine here again. Waiter behind the hostess station ignored us when we arrived. Walked off and came back, continued to ignore us. When he was about to leave the second time I asked him if there was a hostess available to seat us, only then were we greeted because we could no longer be ignored. Guess who our waiter ended up being…it’s called the hospitality industry for a reason. Wife had a terrible salad. A Home Ec student would’ve done better. Caring is always apparent in the product a kitchen produces.
