   We chose The Cricketers for a small family meet-up. We had some starters which were varied and beautifully presented. All the main course dishes were excellent - cooked to perfection and with innovative touches. We had no room for desserts but had some good coffee to finish. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The surroundings were comfortable and nicely decorated. The value for money was excellent too. Highly recommended.

   Lovely location, lovely atmosphere. Food Ok. Enjoyed the starters. Unfortunately one of my pet hates is when the food is not hot. Main meal was Luke warm.

   We absolutely love coming to this rural pub! The atmosphere is great, it is dog friendly, the food is lovely and it feels really cosy. You'd think you were in the heart of the northern countryside - not essex. Will keep coming back!

   My friends and I had a wonderful Xmas lunch, it was lovely, we had a really great time, the food was lovely and the service and ambiance was wonderful thank you

   Food was delicious. Portions were generous and flavours were amazing. Side of chips were the best we have had and remained hot throughout our meal Coffee a little disappointing but will definitely return

    The pub/restaurant was quite quiet but then it was a wednesday evening The food was excellent although my game pie would have benefitted from being slow cooked first. It was not the fault of the establishment but the heating was not working in the restaurant so the ladies in our party kept their coats on during the meal. It might have been nice if we had been offered a warming digestif on the house to make up for the discomfort

    Thank you Peter for your review. We had a struggle with the new boiler that failed at the start of evening service and we are really very sorry for the discomfort - and lack of offer of something to warm you up. A very good point - hopefully on your next visit all will be perfect - and we can offer you a digestif :)
