Located in St. Sampsons Square - a historic part of York’s city centre known for selling great meat since the 12th century - The Cut & Craft York is widely considered one of York’s best steak restaurants.

Boasting its own in-house master butcher and a signature 10oz Flat Iron steak, this elegant restaurant is stylishly decorated with historic features throughout. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with brunch and roasts on the weekends, it’s centrally located close to the famous mediaeval York Shambles and under the shadow of York Minster.

Named 'Restaurant of the Year' at the Yorkshire National Business Hero Awards in 2023 and 2024, The Cut & Craft combines contemporary steak and seafood dishes with a premium list of locally-crafted drinks.

    We had an amazing time at cut and craft for our anniversary and they even gave us a card wishing us a happy anniversary which was unexpected and was a lovely gesture. Cut and craft never disappoints.

    Booked for a birthday dinner on Saturday evening. Very busy, and the service was very rushed (we were asked 3 times if we had finished eating, even although we were still eating). On top of that, there were special birthday messages, which I had added as an extra to the booking. It's not that special given the other options available in York.

    The portions are not that big but the cod supreme I had was very nice, my wife had the veggie cottage pie which she found tasty but a little dry.

    We were celebrating our Silver wedding anniversary with family and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly and helpful. The 2 glasses of complimentary fizz were a nice touch with a hand written congratulations card. Would thoroughly recommend
