Welcome to The Elephant Restaurant
The Elephant is a bright, informal restaurant which is situated near the beautiful Torbay harbour. It was the first restaurant in Torquay to be awarded a Michelin star which it maintains today. We aim to source all our ingredients locally and sustainably, many from our dedicated farm in Brixham.

Run by chef proprietor, Simon Hulstone and his wife Katy. Food is cooked by a talented team of chefs and served by friendly, professional team of staff.

Due to the style of cooking we cannot produce dairy free menus & therefore cannot provide vegan options.

A deposit is required to make reservations on special days of the year, on our special events, or for tables of 6 or more. This is paid over the phone by calling 01803 200044.

Children's menu is only available at lunch for ages 10 and under.

Tasting menu only available in the evening unless requested via phone in advance.

    I have worked in Torquay for over 20 years and have found my way to The Elephant only in my retirement, what a shame! The lunch was outstanding. I call it The Elephant experience. Thank you

    The whole experience was fabulous. The staff are efficient and discreet, they are knowledgeable and respectful. A congratulatory card was left on the table which made us feel very special.

    Another truly memorable experience at The Elephant! The tasting meu was one of the best I have had in its entirety and because it was to celebrate my husbands birthday, we had the wine flight as well.

    Yet again an excellent lunch, very reasonably priced, lovely staff and fantastic food. The lamb rump with the mushrooms I will never forget, and the chocolate mousse with soaked raisins... beautiful. Everything we had was wonderful, our 4th visit and definitely not our last, thanks again guys - see you soon !

    The taster menu was exquisitely prepared and presented with interesting flavour combinations. We chose the accompanying wines and welcomed the description of each one on presentation. Service was professional. Well done The Elephant!

    We had the set lunch and the food was exquisite. Small portions but ample. (No space for a dessert!) Lovely room and very pleasant staff, attentive but not in our faces too much. A very enjoyable experience and we will be back.
