I wanted a special place for Valentines. I felt lucky to have obtained a table at The Factory. They did not have a pre-fix Valentines menu which I consider cheesy and kinda lazy for high end restaurants to do on a night they is all about being special. So happy the factory did not have that. We left our home in LA rush hour traffic and gave ourselves 70 minutes to travel 14 miles. We called the restaurant after 10 minutes and warned them that we may arrive 15 minutes after the reservation (which is perfectly allowable on Open Table and most reservations) and got a lecture on how Valentines is the busiest night of the year. We drove a bit faster and arrived on time. We were seated right away. Probably the 5th couple in the entire restaurant (so much for rushing). We were offered water and then our server arrived promptly (great). We ordered drinks. They arrived quickly (great). Our server than asked for our meal choices. I explained I had an allergy to dairy and made an asked for a starter without cheese. The server looked disappointed. I made another, the same Reaction. Instead of giving me a constructive suggestion, like : I will check wit the Chef or we can remove the cheese and add more veggies , or something , I ordered the only bread on the menu as a starter. My partner ordered the beet salad. It lacked salt or dressing. He ordered a pasta that was supposed to be spicy but it was not. I ordered the Oso Bucco and what arrived were medallions of oso bucco and it was not very tender. We did not order desert. Dinner was done in 45 minutes.

Great Valentine’s Day experience. Some of the best pasta I’ve ever had with unique flavors service by our waiter was top-notch. Very lively atmosphere as it was packed. Ribeye was the biggest downfall, but it did not impact my overall experience.

Appetizers were good, pasta was not good at all. I got the Ravioli. For the amount of pasta, It should have been at least flavorful and It was not at all. For a Michelin star restaurant, I was disappointed.

Handkerchief pasta was a bit overcooked and lacked texture al dente, and sauce lacked complexity, and was very different from when I had it initially years ago. Portions of other pastas were small.
