Located 20yds from the beach in the beautiful seaside village of Sandsend, we’re just a short drive from the popular fishing town of Whitby, North Yorkshire.

We have a real love for the sea and pride ourselves in serving the finest, locally caught sustainable fish and seafood in a casual dining environment.

At Fish Cottage, we welcome the whole family to our seafood restaurant and that includes the four legged members too. So you can head off on a coastal adventure knowing that afterwards you can enjoy a delicious seafood supper all together at our dog friendly restaurant in Sandsend, Whitby.

    Food quality poor, calamari with thin string of calamari and too much batter. Smoked haddock carbonara had lots of rice and minimal fish.

    Just the loveliest place to end up after a walk from Whitby to Sandsend. Service was utterly brilliant; great wine list and amazing food. What else could you possibly want!

    Absolutely beautiful as always, staff were attentive beforehand with my questions and the person serving us was amazing, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble! The food was so fresh as always, my only slight moan was the chips with the cod didn't taste very fresh, they seemed a bit chewy and not like proper fish and chip chips, however the cod, tacos, lobster etc was exceptional! The prawn tacos are an absolute must, would love these to be back as a starter not a meal. My dad wasn't too pleased the service charge was already added to the bill and wasn't told until he went to pay a tip but overall amazing and mum was made up with her birthday treat!

    We came to the fish cottage for our daughters 30th birthday as we were staying in Sandsend, we have eaten here before but mainly in the summer and only outside which is why we decided to eat inthe restaurant, we had starters of bread with oil, mussels, scallops and fish Bon Bon’s, and crab Gruyère, all were well received, presented and tasty for mains we had whole lobster, the rack of fish tacos, sea bass scampi and fish and chips with curry sauce and mushy peas, all the food was absolutely spot on and delicious! The waitress we had was really nice and attentive and was a delightful server all in all a fabulous meal, fabulous service and will undoubtedly return would definitely recommend a visit if in Sandsend!
