I had booked ages ago and was so looking forward to it especially as it was Mothering Sunday. The Menu choices were fabulous and they had Lamb on which was my mothers favourite. Service was slow, which was surprising as enough staff on and for half an hour while we were there we were sat with 4 Empty Tables around us as only our table and another in our area occupied. Starters and Mains were delicious, the 3 of Us All agreed on this. Empty Mains plates were removed and 5/10 minutes later when we were expecting the dessert menu to be brought over we were most surprised when the waitress came and announced that we had 15 minutes left and would not be able to have a dessert as the table was required. As mentioned Service was slow and empty tables around us, this was so disappointing and bought the whole experience crashing down. I went to find the Manager as there wasn't anywhere we could even move to even for a coffee, he did manage to find a table by the entrance that lead to the toilets so this was like grand central station and did not once apologies to Us. As to expect a 3 course meal to be consumed in 1 hour 30 mins was just greedy on the Restaurants side, especially when the Customer has to wait to be served in a timely manner to achieve this. Such a shame as the Chef and his Team produced a fabulous menu.

Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the whole experience. Staff have no customer service skills not even the basics the entire 2+ hours felt like being served by robots who don’t know anything about the essentials of working in hospitality. My food was ok however mums was bland. I ordered a GLASS of Prosecco which was what I received I repeat a GLASS not a bottle. However when the bill came it said small bottle and charged £11. I questioned it with the waitress who repeatedly said the manager told me to just fill the glass. On the website and in restaurant wine list a GLASS is £8.50 and no small bottle is listed if it had have been I would have ordered it because it’s slightly more than a glass and the small bottle would have been served to the table. Due to not getting a sensible answer from the waitress or any offer of trying to sort out what was clearly a mistake on the part of the restaurant I didn’t want to make a fuss due to the occasion being a treat for mum. I won’t be returning or recommending the restaurant. Ive been using the forest for a number of years and sad to say I won’t be returning in a hurry. The Skogen over the road provide a pleasant experience and the staff are exceptional in every way.

Great food and venue for my birthday lunch. My fillet of beef was cooked to perfection and my wife’s fish cake was lovely.

Excellent Sunday lunch. My roast was perfectly cooked beef. Cheerful attentive and prompt service. Not the first time I've eaten here and will definitely not be the last.

The soup starter was a little more than lukewarm warm but passable. The Sunday roast looked delicious. However the roast potatoes that came in a separate dish was far far too salty. I got home and felt sick. It is now 1900 hrs and I can still taste salt. We took our mother with us who is 90 years old and didn’t want to complain. But we are so disappointed with the food. The service was good.

We came at 4:30 pm offered a limited menu which was ok because of the time but we did not want chicken wings as the person I was with does not like meat on a bone so we had the mini fish cakes . We found out that others were offered chicken tenderloins of chicken which we would have preferred . It might be worth asking about this alternative if not offered Otherwise we enjoyed our meal
