The French Quarter is a relaxed neighbourhood restaurant & wine Bar in a community of unique and quirky businesses in Newcastle city Centre. We are a friendly and approachable team of people, with a passion for the good things in life. Born from nostalgia for a traditional style of commerce and a desire to challenge perceptions that French dining is formal or fussy, we work with independent suppliers to offer a regularly changing wine list & tapas style menu. We have created a casual and sociable environment where customers are invited to experience our food, try our wines, shop from our deli and share our love of all things French!

We went there for my daughter’s 24th birthday. Very busy but we were last sitting and our table was still ready on time. Regrettably we were over a condensation drip - but the restaurant apologized and moved us immediately … again benefit of last sitting. Staff attentive. Service prompt. Food quality mostly excellent. We had to large cheese / cured meet boards and 15 small plates for 4 of us. Value for money - Cheese portions were a little too small for GBP9. For quality - only complaint the escargots - the garlic was undercooked (crunchy) and over powering. Great bottle of wine. Total bill GBP250 + service. And they gave my daughter a birthday dessert and candle. Great night. Will definitely be back.

Our first visit to the French Quarter. A really classy yet quirky restaurant which has a great atmosphere and rustic decor. The service was incredibly attentive with very knowledgeable staff who were always professional and friendly. We felt very well looked after. We had a mixed sharing board, escargot and bread to start. The main was a take on a Tapas where we shared the dishes. I was not expecting this and it elevated the experience as we both got to sample a number of different dishes. It felt very authentically French and we enjoyed all the dishes, particularly the beef and ratatouille Some great wine choices also but no room for desert. A really lovely evening and a restaurant I’d highly recommend.

Staff were really nice. Booked a bar table but offered a high table instead when one came available. Very attentive and friendly. Food was tasty and overall really lovely evening.

I personally think this is the best food in Newcastle, it's a big claim but this place really works to back it up. All the food and drink is well chosen and beautifully executed, I've never had a meal here I didn't enjoy, indeed some of the best meals I've ever eaten have been here, and I've never felt like the food was worse than the last time I visited despite it being a few years since I first came here. Fantastic restaurant I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Really enjoyable dinner, fantastic wines and knowledge, good service and food, the simple things done well, just proves you don’t have to have try to hard, not our first time and will be back again. From 2 people in the industry FOH & Kitchen this is a great choice for dining.

This is my absolutely favourite place and if I lived in Newcastle permanently I would be here ALL the time. The physical space is cozy. The food is amazing…I had the black olive tapenade, the sea bream and green beans and a lovely banana and chocolate mousse for dessert. The wine selection is so interesting. Anyway, I’m in Newcastle till March 14…I hope you don’t get tired of me 🤪. And, a special shout out to Tirina (I’m sure I mucked that spelling up 😬). I’m always made to feel so welcome…thank you!
