   The food was incredible. But what surprised us even more was how they went above and beyond. The extra little touches, like a sign on the table congratulating my husband on his retirement. A little extra treat at the end. And accommodating our requests with a smile. It was a lovely experience.

   The Gate is a restaurant experience that anyone who loves food, appreciates quality and understands service needs to set on their calendar in permanent rotation. I've been to many local restaurants over the last decade and this ranks among the highest. Think Langdon Hall quality with less seriousness but similar qualities and flavour. We had some drinks to start (bubbly and a paper plane-well worth it, shared the papardelle bursting with flavours with a miniature pâte en croute with venison(we could not decide so they brought this out) with a miniature dense sauce of dates which I thought an obvious play on HP sauce, amazing. Then we shared a version of surf and turf with steak and salted cod with mushrooms that was set off with delicate fingerling potatoes in a rich unxious sauce. Topping it off with a dessert hitting all points of sweet, soft custard, crunchy praline and all places in between. All plates shared, and amazing. While a group laughed it up nearby sipping wine and chatting, our window seat was set to the quiet drone of a few cars moving through the quiet single intersection downtown, we felt like this special place was just for us. You should make the journey if you are in Toronto, Halton, Owen Sound, Fergus, Orangeville, Shelburne, Creemore, Walkerton, Alliston Caledon, or from anywhere north or west GTA in the coming weeks and months. We want this place and we are lucky to have it. You will not regret your experience at The Gate. Tell them you are coming, they made it a personal and amazing experience. Make your way on hwy 10 veering West. Bring a date or a group of friends, go west they said, we did, and it was delicious

   Tonight’s tasting menu was top notch as always, and a cool collaboration with a chef-friend of the restaurant. The place is so relaxed, but the effort that goes into the prep, execution and plating of every course is evident every time. We appreciate that the chefs and servers explain the courses and chat further when they have time. It’s a total gem. Thank you

   Second time at the Gate and we would come again. Favourite dish is Digby Scallop. Wonderful bread and yummy butter. Wouldn't have thought to try salted cod but really glad we did. Don't normally think much about salads but butter lettuce and radicchio salad with honey was delicious. Make sure to really mix it up

   Great room, lovely ambiance, delicious food. A noteworthy addition to the Beaver Valley region. Highly recommended: the salt cod with chestnut mushrooms. Looking forward to the kitchen's magic with spring vegetables.

   If there was a rating higher than 5, I would give it. Outstanding food, beautifully presented and served by appropriately attentive staff. We were hosting friends for a milestone birthday and they even had a small sign saying happy birthday on our table. Our guest is a genuinely knowledgeable foodie and an excellent cook (dare I say chef?) himself and he raved. The Gate is a true find. A small gem that we are so fortunate to have in Flesherton.

    The cooking class with Chefs Jonathan and Philippe was informative and entertaining. It was such a privilege to get to attend a class with these 2 amazing chefs. Plus you get to enjoy their amazing creations after each demonstration. Wine pairings by Jennifer were outstanding. So happy they have opened this restaurant in Grey Highlands. We can’t wait to go back.
