A traditional, local country pub in an idyllic setting on quiet country lane. Family-friendly with excellent food and real ales.

Please be aware that due to social distancing requirements we are using our heated marquee for dining or just a drink, and the tables inside the pub itself for dining reservations only. Our inside bar remains closed with use of our shepherds hut bar outside remaining open and we are operating a strict table service only policy. Please also be aware that due to the latest change in government legistlation, we will no longer be able to accept tables of more than 6 people and face masks MUST be worn when not seated at a table.

We now require payment details at the weekend to secure your table reservation. Your card will not be charged unless you fail to honour your booking in which case a £5 per person fee will be charged to your card.

When we got there the whole place was closed for refurbishment and no one had let us know. Had to find somewhere to eat at very short notice. Very unhappy 😡

We had a great seating area and we're made to feel welcome. For and service we're very good. I would recommend it!

Unfortunately the food was less than average, very bland fish and fries rather than real chips. The pie of the day was also disappointing. There also appeared to be a person smoking in the bar while others were not socially distancing. Altogether it was an uncomfortable experience.

Thank you for your review, please accept our apologies that your time here wasn't an enjoyable one. We take all comments on board in order to help improve everyones experience here. However, with regards to the food, we do table checks for a reason, if nothing is mentioned at the time we stand little hope of rectifying anything. I can assure you social distancing is STRICTLY adhered to here and I can also assure you NO ONE is allowed to smoke in any inside spaces.

The outside area is amazing with lovely drapes, settees etc. The food was fabulous and amazing value. The staff were lovely and friendly. Everything was very spaced it and felt very safe.

As always had a fantastic lunch in beautiful surroundings and very welcoming staff . Also turned up on our horses a few weeks back and both ourselves and our horses were well watered and looked after. Will be back soon.
