The George hotel is a beautiful 400 year old hotel, currently only used as a restaurant. Taken over in 2020, the restaurant is tastefully decorated, adourning wonderful photos of chepstow through the years. The menu boasts an array of fabulous dishes, from the traditional 'pub grub' with our 2 for £16 menu, to our in house dry aged Steaks, cooked to perfection by our chefs or brought out to you on our signature sizzling hot stones. On a Saturday evening, the restaurant comes alive with wonderful live music, starting off with a relaxed vibe whilst you finish off your meal, and a livelier second half to finish off your evening. Finish the week here on a sunday, where we have fast become the place to come for a sunday lunch, with rave reviews and recommendations across the board. With a vast drinks and food menu, the George is the ideal place to come, either for a relaxed lunch for two, an evening out with friends or a large family gathering.

Staff very good. Belly pork disappointing as had not been rendered enough so fat still evident and meat dry. Parsnips also were poorly prepared. Ample portions and good value, shame as if not for the pork and parsnips, the rating would have been very high. I did mention to the waitress about the pork and she did offer a substitute, which I was grateful for, but not taken up as in a group of 6 and would be a tad awkward. Will book again, but maybe try another meat.

I booked a table for Sunday lunch to celebrate my upcoming birthday. We were a party of 9 - 6 adults and 3 children. Our servers were friendly and patient. The food was great - tasty & plentiful but we were not over full! All in all a really nice, relaxed meal. Thank you

Easy to book, shown table quickly, food service fast (maybe too fast), there was a comment about more turkey on the Christmas set menu would have been good. Overall very happy with the table of 6, sure we will return.

All in all, pretty good lunch. Nice to see some light options on the menu. I had the cheddar and ham sandwich, generous portions. I appreciated the fact that there were zero alcohol larger on draft.

Really great Sunday Roast Pork, nice and hot, vegetables nicely cooked, cauliflower cheese brilliant. For starter we had mushrooms on toast and whitebait. My husband and granddaughter had beef burger which they really enjoyed. Friendly staff, nice and warm in dining area.

A lovely place to eat. It was a packed busy evening due to the racing. We were placed in the restaurant area away from the bar. Despite it being so busy the young gentleman and young lady who served were happy, effficient and friendly. They didn’t stop all the time we were there but gave all customers an attentive friendly service. We had a lovely meal, and enjoyed our evening. We would highly recommend this establishment.

I would have liked more variety of vegetables, otherwise a very enjoyable meal.
