The Grand Tier Restaurant is located inside The Metropolitan Opera House and offers both a la carte and prix fixe menus. The restaurant welcomes the general public, not just ticketed guests of the Metropolitan Opera House. Reservations required. The restaurant’s location makes it the perfect pre-theater dining experience for all guests of Lincoln Center. The exquisite modern American cuisine and classic dining room, highlighted by Chagall murals and brilliant Swarovski crystal chandeliers, make it a memorable destination regardless of the occasion. Our doors open two hours before curtains go up.
Ticketed guests of the Metropolitan Opera may also dine in the restaurant at intermission, but must pre-order and reserve via phone: 212.799.3400, or email: thegrandtier@patinagroup.com . Reservations for ticketed guests dining at intermission ONLY, are not taken via Open Table.
Please note that proof of vaccination is no longer required.

Hard to beat a fine meal sitting directly under one of the 2 Chagall masterpieces then walking a few steps to an opera at the MET, amazing night! Food was wonderful and the service was as outstanding as we have ever had anywhere in the world!

Great environment! Amazing idea of having a restaurant inside a theater. So convenient. Really loved having dessert and tea/coffee at the same table during the intermission. Food presentation was lovely, but I had better flavors in other places using the same ingredients. Having said that, it was totally worth it.

I’ve waited for years to dine here. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing. We were seated at a table overlooking the wait staff and it was freezing. We literally needed jackets! Additionally, the food was extremely overpriced for what you were served. The $52 Eggs Benedict was nothing special. For those visiting the Met, I would advise finding elsewhere prior to the Opera

I enjoy this restaurant. It can be a little hit or miss on some things. Today’s special was Dover sole that came out completely covered with a nondescript gravy. I couldn’t finish it. I think of sole being served with a light lemon sauce. Got the seafood platter with three not particularly notable oysters that tasted of too much sand. I like a mignonette sauce which wasn’t part of the platter. I always like the assortment of cheeses on the cheese platter.

I read a review stating that the food was terrible. On the contrary our meals were superb and beautifully presented. However, there was a delay in serving our meals, and then another delay due to errors on the check. The staff tried to remedy these as quickly as possible, but the delay caused my friend to miss part of the opera which I think is ridiculous considering the restaurant is located in the Opera House! to support the opera patrons. Give yourself the full two hours to dine in advance of the opera, and it is a wonderful venue and experience!

It’s an experience that my wife and I always plan for when we attend the opera. This is our second opera and second time at the Grand Tier. The night would not be complete without dinner here. The servers make you feel special. The food is outstanding. The dessert, which we schedule to have after the first act, is all off the charts.

My Husband and I got opera tickets to Rigoletto and decided to eat at the Grand Tier Restaurant. It was a great decision. We were able to have our dinner before the curtain and then come back to our table at intermission for dessert! Our server was excellent in guiding us through the menu! I have a feeling we will do this again!
