About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Fancy
  • Great for creative cocktails
The Gregory at The Watermark Hotel is Baton Rouge, Louisiana's premier destination for modern food & wine. Located off the lobby of the hotel, in the former Bank of Louisiana, our restaurant is centered between an open kitchen and a full bar surrounded by murals painted by the artist of who the restaurant is named, Angela Gregory. Chefs Patrick Trahan, Brock Nichols, and Jonathan White design menus that utilize fresh and local produce and available organic proteins that offer twists on Southern classics in a modern farm-to-table menu. As a Louisiana native, Patrick influences Southern cooking styles by employing our wood-stone oven, Spanish Josper oven, and cast-iron grill to elevate flavors and create one-of-a-kind dishes in the downtown Baton Rouge area.

I would recommend for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Perfect spot to eat before a concert at The Manship Theatre! Staff was welcoming. Ambiance was modern/high-end/historic Louisiana vibe (bank history). Bar was attentive. The dinner was great and the following morning the breakfast was given a 10 out of a 10 by my very picky kids. We booked dinner for 6pm in order to make a 7:30pm concert at The Manship Theatre. Our hotel/dinner arrival was late due to a wreck on the bridge. We called & the Gregory hostess made sure to have a hot bacon flatbread pizza waiting for our table upon our late arrival. Cocktail menu and bartenders are good too. It was a Tuesday night so not crowded or loud, patrons mostly people staying at this Marriott property for business. Our friends who were going to the same concert decided to eat at Tsunami. They were seated at 6pm and their food never arrived so they left at 8pm without their main dishes. They wished that they would have eaten with us at The Gregory. I like restaurants that aren’t too loud, have proportionally sized quality food, decent wine menu, and a good classy bar. I also appreciated the kid -friendly vibe. My kids played tic tac toe in the lobby and they had a blast. We had the gumbo for room service and the gumbo is not representative of a true Louisiana chicken & sausage gumbo.

Watermark Hotel and The Gregory Restaurant were excellent! Cocktails divine, waiter Johnathan was polite, witty and very attentive. High marks all around. the Wagyu Flatiron with fingerling potatoes rocked as did the Iceberg wedge salad, all paired with the Peju Cab made the night. Mousse cake was death by chocolate - total yum!!! We'll be back!

We had a terrible experience at the Gregory. The waitress seemed to be under the influence. She couldn’t understand us, she also spilt a drink on me and couldn’t get our checks right after 3 attempts. The steak and the fish were overcooked. We went specifically for the happy hour specials and were told happy hour is only honored if you are seated at the bar, which is not advertised anywhere. Wait times were long for food and drinks but the check alone took 30 minutes to arrive. There are so many wonderful restaurant options downtown but i would not recommend this one.

Had a great breakfast buffet before the parade. Staff were amazing. Food was excellent. Bar had great bartenders and drinks. Doorman was awesome and remembered us as dining so we could enter for the bar and drinks and bathroom during the parade. Top notch!

Wonderful service. The hostess was our favorite. We were running late and she even called and checked on us. As a Titanium Elite Member, I appreciate the extra effort Ian James, Financial Advisor

What a difference a year made! Went back to The Gregory after a terrible experience and man have things changed. From the hostess seating us to the bill paying at the end of the meal the night was fantastic. The Vault Burger and fries! Soup, pork chop, duck fat potatoes all outstanding. And when your there look around. The restaurant is in a hotel lobby and it is Grand! Such beauty in the room.

We made reservations for Valentine’s Day. We arrived 20 min early and they sat us right away. Drinks were fantastic. espresso Martini to start, then speak easy Margarita’s and Old Fashioned for the Hubs. We did not do appetizers so I can’t comment on that but the Dry Aged Pork Chop is what we both ordered with brocolini and truffle fries which was all very good.
