Lovely welcome and roaring fires, warm and attentive service and a great menu. We had some delicious bar snacks to start us off and a main dish of ox tongue was delicious followed by a scrummy homemade sorbet.

We ate a late lunch sitting by the fire. A lovely relaxed atmosphere. The food is always original and delicious. Great service. It has become one of our favourites.

We heartily enjoyed lunch today, choosing from an imaginative and original menu, with a lovely enticing choice of dishes. The food was well presented, homemade, fresh and very tasty. It was simultaneously both ‘rustic’ - in the earthy sense of strong flavours, such as the heavenly black treacle rye bread- and sophisticated. We were well attended to throughout. It was a real treat, and the Inn itself is a fascinating ancient building. We will return. Thank you to the lovely young lady and the Landlord who served us so well today.

Old fashioned pub ambience and friendly staff. Sadly food was not so good and so not good value for quite a high cost. Mushroom tartlets were tepid, and pastry was tough and clearly not freshly made. Partridge was well cooked and tender but vegetables over cooked and gravy tasted if nothing. Hake dish was unexciting, and vegetables overcooked.

We love this place. We had another excellent lunch. We all had different dishes, I had the country terrine which was full of flavour and then the partridge, with liver toast, which was cooked to perfection. My husband had the trout, which he said was outstanding, and our friends had the hogget, which they hadn't had before but throughly enjoyed. We would highly recommend the Greyhound, give it a try .

Sadly food does still seem to be hit and miss at The Greyhound. Not sure we will be back for a while. Sad as our previous meal had been brilliant.
