Real farm to table menu with a modern twist and hearty portions. Gorgeous beamed room with open fire and great friendly service. Leave room for dessert if you can as they are outstanding. So glad we discovered this gem.

I think they are trying to be too fancy and missing the subtle blend of flavours. The menu was limited accordingly. Heavily meat based with very little extras.

The young lady waitress greeted us and gave us a choice of table. We received the menus straight away and it was not long before the drinks were delivered. The lack of mocktails was disappointing but the glass Fiano Carlomagna was a delight. It is very unusual to get such a good wine by the glass. It was a pity that the red, a Nero d'Avila from Sicily subsequently proved such a disappointment. A better red from Sicily needs to be sourced if the standard represented by the white is to be maintained. The combination of ingredients and the excellent cooking made for superb food and cannot be more highly recommended, it was so good. I have eaten in Michelin starred restaurants, and these courses were up there. Unusually for us, we each had a sweet course and the Chocolate Mousse with a very unusual Bay Cream was quite excellent. Disappointingly, the sweet wine I requested to go with the Birnham Blue did not arrive because the barman could not find the bottle. Perhaps he needs some training.

Delightful meal, really interesting menu, executed skilfully. Really attentive staff without being intrusive. Lovely roaring fires on a chilly day. Asked for plenty of space for our big dog when booking & was given it. All in all a first class Sunday lunch. Only slight negative is would’ve liked some more interesting alcohol free options. Maybe a nice AF sparkling wine, Kombucha or AF gin but other than that tip top. Look forward to returning.

It was our first visit here and our journey was quite a long one (1hr 30) but it was well worth it. There was a very warm welcome with a seat near the fire - so cosy. The food was simply superb. Fresh bread , which was so tasty and a generous amount of good butter to start off with, alongside anchovies and lardo soldiers - delicious. Lamb sweetbreads and wild garlic soup was so tasty. We both had the hogget chops and they were stunning. WE were too full for pudding unfortunately. We will definitely be back.
