Suburb view of the Thames. Friendly service. Excellent food. Perhaps best not to book to late as they run out of some dishes. Overall very enjoyable

I came for lunch on Saturday and was left thoroughly disappointed by the whole experience. I'd brought my parents who were in London for the day and I'd really hoped the lunch would be a bit special. Having looked at the menu and seen pictures of the inside of the pub online I was hopeful. Unfortunately the terrace, while having a great view, was very tired and dirty so even though it was a nice day we ate inside. The room was very nice and our waitress was friendly and smiley throughout. My mum's food arrived cold and not cooked through. It was so uncooked it was rubbery to cut (it was lobster) The waitress took it back to the kitchen and the maître d' was apologetic. The dish returned and was no better. The waitress took it back and this time a new lobster tail was cooked. This was warmer but caveated with the warning that it might be dry as a result. I'm not really sure why the chef puts a dish on the menu that he cannot ensure is both cooked and not dry. This had obviously taken some time by now, so the three other diners were left awkwardly trying to eat really slowly so when mum's food arrived we could still eat together. The rest of the food was average. Certainly not terrible but nothing to write home about and definitely not worth returning for. Surprisingly, when we asked for the bill the lobster was still on there. Mum was really embarrassed by this stage so didn't want to 'make a fuss' so we left it. Having worked in a restaurant and a pub myself, I was astonished that nothing had been done at this stage to make amends. Nothing was offered to make up for the fact we'd all had a thoroughly terrible time - not the coffees, not the 2 glasses of wine, not the lobster, nothing. It's also worth saying that the dessert we ordered - lime posset wasn't set. The restaurant was also only half full so excuses can't even be made for the kitchen being overrun. We definitely won't be returning or recommending.

Midweek dinner, great food and service.wine list good but on the pricey side for a pub. Booking essential to guarantee a table.

Whilst the table was only booked for 2 hours, as they were not busy at the end of our service we were not put under any pressure to leave or order more - this makes a nice change from some places I have eaten in. We all had a sunday roast, which came with plenty of sides that it was difficult to finish, very generous and all was delicious. Our friends had the chicken for 2 which did look wonderful when it came out. All in all a good lunch and a good price. Will be back

It honestly is the only true London pub in CW. It has charm and it a year-round place.

had a great lunch with an ex colleague, great atmosphere with good food and excellent service, the only downside is the walk over there especially now there is lots of building work going on, but if you have time on your side I highly recommend it!

The gun isn't your standard pub grub, and neither are the prices. But the outstanding quality of the food and warm surroundings make this by far the best Sunday lunch in the area. Staff are incredible and nothing is too much trouble.

We've been to The Gun tens of times, both for drinks and meals, and the quality food and warm service has kept us coming back. However on this occasion we were a little disappointed on a few counts. On the booking we had asked to sit on the terrace; on arrival we were shown to the dining room and I asked if we could sit on the terrace. I was told the terrace was closed due to a later private booking. However posters everywhere showed that the booking was across the venue from 4:30, and other lunch diners were shown to the terrace so we felt a little let down. We had a young baby with us and on asking for changing facilities the disabled toilet was unlocked for me - only to reveal a wheelbarrow and other items as the toilet was being used as a storage cupboard. I waited while items were cleared to make a path, and had to change the baby with the door open. There was also no soap here. Finally members of our party were disappointed having been told what beers were on tap to not get their drinks as seemingly all of the bitter ran out! The food and waiting service were as usual lovely but these elements really let down an otherwise pleasant meal.

We enjoyed an absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch at The Gun last Sunday afternoon. The food was delicious, delivered in abundance, steaming hot with all the traditional accompaniments including the best roast potatoes. We would thoroughly recommend. The staff were attentive, in fact nothing was lacking.....so happy we have found a great local pub serving wonderful food. Thank You!

I love the Gun. Sunday lunch is fab. And sitting outside opposite the dome during the summer is a wonderful experience. Last Sunday was an anomaly. The staff were inattentive, got orders wrong and forgot to bring items. Shame because it isn't cheap but it's usually good value.
