   Perfect place for a relaxing late lunch on a Friday afternoon. Excellent food and staff. Four stars overall because a bit disappointed in the lemon meringue but main meals were excellent!

   A bit disappointed with the whole experience. Order took ages, no drinks delivered - asked twice for them and then told no sauvignon blanc, eventually meal arrived for 3 of us and starter came after it which I had to ask for. I asked for ice 4 times and eventually gave up. Not enough waiting staff on a bank holiday weekend and the ones that were on were only young so not their fault they were run off their feet. although remembering a couple of simple things would have been less embarrassing for everyone if we didn't have to keep asking. Probably won't be back which is a shame as the band was good and would have been a good spot for St Patricks day. Bar staff need to acknowledge customers when they come in rather than looking over their heads when they are standing in front of them. A lot to work on but probably won't bother because of the location but I think I would choose the other pubs instead of this one again.

   I had the steak and my wife had the duck. Both were cooked correctly and very tasty. No need for extra sides and we did not have starter or desert.

   On arrival we were greeted by pleasant young girl who showed us to our table. We then ordered a drink and studied both menus. We started a cheese dish. We then had seabass and a pork dish. At this I must say there was more ample portions. The food was excellent . We did not have dessert but instead had an Irish coffee Our experience was 5 star and would highly recommend the Hillside .

   We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and chose to dine at The Hillside as we have had many wonderful meals there. We were greeted immediately and asked who the Birthday person was and that they would be given the choice of a free drink or free desert. We chose the bread board for sharing and we thoroughly enjoyed the warm selection of breads and spreads. My husband ordered scampi and skinny fries which he thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the fish with chunky chips and was really disappointed with the fish as it looked and tasted like fish from a freezer pack the coating was soft and not at all crispy, a little stodgy. Fries were dark and over cooked. Unable to finish my meal. I know this is not the usual standard of fare just disappointing.

    The bar was very busy and there were two birthday celebrations going on. But we got a nice table in the restaurant and really enjoyed the food. Because the bar was packed it made for a good atmosphere I enjoyed it.
