   TLDR: I was physically assaulted by a racist patron and the restaurant did the bare minimum. Last night my mother and I went to dinner at The House Brasserie. I was excited to eat there again after several delicious visits. Unfortunately, we had the most bizarre experience and I cannot in good conscience recommend patronizing this establishment. While we waited for dessert, my mother spoke to a member of the waitstaff about how beautiful Mexico is (his country of origin) and the many beautiful cities she's enjoyed visiting there. An older man sitting at a neighboring table who had been served several glasses of wine over the course of the evening overheard the conversation. He decided he needed to express his hatred of Mexicans while standing up to leave, saying "F-ing Mexicans. . . 8 million Mexicans are crossing the border to bring drugs into the country, etc.". As he walked out of the restaurant he felt it appropriate to hit me in the arm and tell me to buy my mother a ticket to Mexico. All of this happened as restaurant employees looked on. He then got into his car in an inebriated state while the restaurant manager happily waved good bye to him. A hostess came over and apologized for our experience. She was truly empathetic, and admitted that he was a regular and that "we will take care of this." I don't know what was meant by that but we were comped one drink and dessert- $26 dollars off our $180 bill. Which, whatever, I don't expect the restaurant to comp us, but I do expect them to step in when one patron physically assaults another patron. The food was good, but the experience was absolutely shocking and the staff was underwhelming in their handling of the situation.

   Very beautiful place, enjoyed the crudo and shishitos which were fantastic. Had the squid ink papardelle for the main, would not recommend. The bread pudding was incredible and the service was great.

   The first time we came here we were very impressed, this last time underwhelmed. Steak was cooked over-done and Mac n cheese was left with virtually no flavor. If you’re going to charge steakhouse prices, I’d expect exceptional sear and cooking. Happy with our service, disappointed with the level of food prep

    Incredible food. Wonderful service. Beautiful way to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. The outdoor seating was warm & intimate.
