    The omlet needed a little salt and spices to pep it up. It was well prepared and appetizing. A bit more of the cajan crème fresh would complement the dish. The angel biscuits are to die for. The burger was excellent. Service was superb.

    We were excited to try Independent for a nice birthday time out. A little disappointing. Food selections we chose were average at best. Seating is tight. There were ways they could have placed the chairs. I was always getting bump as servers were going by. It's new but I don't think I would return

    After an evening event, we went for late appetizer’s and cocktail’s. Service was excellent as were the oysters, deviled eggs (with fried oysters) and crab dip. Highly recommended

    We enjoyed a fabulous evening celebrating my husband’s Gregg’s birthday at The Independent. He was greeted with a personalized card and our server, Sean, brought us each a complimentary glass of champagne. We sampled the oysters raw and broiled- both were delicious. I had the crab cake featured on the menu and my husband was adventurous and ordered the fish special. We sampled both together and truly enjoyed. The restaurant was crowded, and being an open kitchen, can be loud, but we chose to be seated by the bar in the back.

    This was our first visit and we drove in from Pawleys and it was so worth it. We eat regularly in Georgetown and have our favorite spots and this one will take the finer dining lead. The place is as quaint and cozy as the hotel George. We loved the decor and the intimate but lively setting. The crab finger appetizer was delicious but a little overcooked but the remoulade served with it was amazing and made up for it. I got the blackened red drum and it was fabulous. My wife wanted the same thing but can’t do blackened but whatever the chef did she loved hers as much as I did mine. She asked for carrots and loved those and I went with the perlau with bits of andouille sausage and crab…ridiculously good. Solid cocktails and wine offerings too and our service from Shaun was excellent. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and the preparation of each dish and gave attentive service. This place is small so make a reservation.

    We had another great crab Benedict brunch. Superb service (Jane) and we also enjoyed our conversation with the manager Dru Ford. Often we will enjoy their desserts and this time I decided to try the ice cream they make in house. I couldn’t decide between the vanilla bean with expresso coffee poured over it or the salted malt ice cream. Guess what??? Jane brought me the salted malt I had ordered and then gave us a free vanilla bean expresso so we could try them both. AWESOME.

    Wonderful brunch experience. Shrimp & grits, mile high key lime pie, wine and cappuccino all expertly prepared and graciously served. Dinner previous evening: filet and creamed spinach—yummy as usual. Expertly prepared and served. Happy 1st anniversary to The Independent!

    We went for a Birthday dinner for my wife Karen and when we were seated there was a Birthday Card for her signed by the staff and the menus also had Happy Birthday on them. The dinner was excellent as well as our waiter Hunter. All of the staff were so nice, the food was great and a beautiful restaurant. it was amazing. We will be back again!!

    Reason for 3 stars. We were staying at The George hotel so decided to eat at the Independant. Just the 2 of us so we sat at the bar. Nice ambiance and bartender was very helpful with my wine selection. There were 3 people working behind the bar but we felt like we had to get there attention for a couple of things. First our food came before we even had napkins and silverware. Had to ask for a knife which should be a standard part of any silverware setting. Since everything is alacart and way over priced the side my husband ordered with his $55 8oz. filet (which was just that on a plate and a ramakin of sauce,not even a garnish) presentation is half the dish, didn't even come out. The steak was halfway gone and we had to get the servers attention to get the side he ordered. The server/bartender was kind enough to take that side off the check. I worked at a 4 diamond restaurant for 10 years and expected much more considering the prices. Go to the bar and have a drink but eat elsewhere. Food does not justify the price, way over priced foa plain steak with no sides. I had scallops which were good, it was 4 with a small frise slad in the middle. My husbands steak was good at best. Only wish I had taken pictures of the food. That steak was so embarrassing to even serve like that. I will say however they do have very good espresso martinis. Again have a drink but dine elsewhere. We do not mind dropping $$$ for a great meal but this was not, no value for our dollars
