   Scallops were delicious, our server was nice and friendly and good. Bartender refused to service us so we went back to our room and waited for our reservation/table instead of hanging out in the bar. Thought bartender could have at least acknowledged us in some way the hostess said we could wait there and then left us. The floater did a knowledge and said bartender would be to with us shortly but it never happened and she didn’t seem to think it was important.

   We throughly enjoyed celebrating New Years Eve at The Independent in The George Hotel in Georgetown, SC. We enjoyed cocktails at Eliza’s in the courtyard overlooking the Sampit River first and loved all of the palm trees wrapped in holiday lights! Although it wasn’t an easy decision because everything on the menu sounded amazing, we finally decided on the she crab soup, grilled Caesar salads, the sea scallop entree and beef Wellington entree. We were not disappointed in our selections, the scallops were seasoned and cooked perfectly, the salad had just enough dressing, & I loved the swirl of parsley oil in the she crab soup. The presentation of every dish was picture perfect but our server was the brandied cherry on top! We were so impressed with Hunter, he answered all of my many questions, was very attentive, and exhibited all of the values I’d expect at a five star restaurant!    Our second visit in 3 weeks. This time it was busy and the atmosphere was very nice. The crowd was great. Our waiter, Joe, was a pro! Memorized our orders, was knowledgeable and overall very good. The food was delicious. Much better experience then last time, except it gets a bit loud when it’s busy.

   We live nearby, and this was our first visit. The food was excellent. Service was top-notch. Georgetown has become the home of many fine restaurants, and this is a great addition. Rivals the best places in Charleston.

   We when here on Christmas night and it was great. We had the crab cakes and scallops. They were both excellent

   Excellent holiday fare at our first visit to The Independent! Our personable server, Hunter, was totally knowledgeable of cocktail and menu details. Our entrees were cooked to perfection and the crowning glory was the Hummingbird cake dessert. Truly, as good as it gets~ a venue not to be missed!

   The mussels were gritty and the portion a bit small. The Caesar shouldn’t exist like that, it should come with a warning “not a traditional CS”. Loved everything else.
