Please visit our website to learn more about The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges http://www.theinnatpoundridge.com/ Chef Jean‑Georges introduces his latest venture, a casually elegant restaurant ensconced in the picturesque town of Pound Ridge, New York. Here, Jean‑Georges cultivates a truly seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley and New England, whenever possible. Constructed in 1833 as a residence and serving later as an inn, the building has been painstakingly renovated to preserve as many of the original materials as possible, including four working fireplaces. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the restaurant’s interior with a modern yet rustic sensibility; zinc and marble accent stone and reclaimed wood. The restaurant’s lighting, artfully conceived by Hervé Descottes, employs paper shades and Edison fixtures to create warmth throughout.

Hard to find the restaurant in the dark. The thin cushions on the wood chairs do nothing, very uncomfortable. Lightning too dim to see what you are eating. Average food. Extremely noisy, like a grade school playground. Prices too high. Impeccable service. It’s an Applebees for the wealthy.

The setting is lovely but the service is underwhelming at best. After counting 7 staff members in the dining room and then spending 15 minutes trying to flag someone down to take our order, the tone was set. There was an oder mix-up - i.e., the Norwegian Smoked Salmon on a Toasted Bagel instead of the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon which was resolved promptly and overall, the food was very good. However, service is an important part of the dining experience and paying almost $200 for brunch and having to flag down waitstaff on multiple occasions was quite unpleasant.

We had to wait to be seated for our table. It took 1 1/2 hours from placing out order to be served our main courses. We were given no reason for the delay. We spoke with the unhelpful and un apologetic manager who made some excuse about a problem with a shipment. Made no sense. Never had an apology. The food for the most part was over salted every dish.

The hostess asked us for our name 5 times. We arrived early and said we would wait at the bar for table. She said the table would be ready in 10 minutes. 15 minutes after our reservation time (45 minutes after our arrival) we were finally seated Bar staff is excellent

I think my 12 time here but over 2 years since last visit. Crowded brunch afternoon, our party of 5 was on time but had to wait 15 mins for a table on lower level when I was told we would be upstairs in main room. Noise level is a bit high, staff is attentive but delivery is slow due to volume of diners. At a 2:30 resy should they be out of chicken app and lobster burger? I think not. Calamari, tuna tartare, greek beet salad and Kale/Sausage Pizza were yummy. Entrees of rigatoni w meatballs needed more sauce and could be hotter. Salmon, Chicken, Baked Eggs and French Toast were good not exceptional. Carrot Cake, Ice Cream, coffee were fine. Service was functional, delayed between courses by the crowd. This place needs to be more personal, less austere, warmer and friendlier. I think over time it has lost a step or two.

This was an okay place to eat. Nothing amazing about it. The mixed drinks were not that great and super expensive. The chicken was okay. Lacking in flavor for Parmesan crust.

As always, the food was fantastic. This visit was made negatively memorable by a few factors. First, on checking in with the hostesses, we were made to feel that we were more of a bother than that we were guests. We stood idly by with no explanation for why we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, our server treated us very well - she was delightful. But we were adjacent to a loud retirement party that encroached on our evening (loud!). The guests themselves apologized, but management (fully aware of the situation) said and did nothing. The restaurant lacks “eyes on” management focused on guest experience. We waited almost 30 mins for pizzas - again, no apology and no explanation. The servers looked aimless. Finally, on departure an alarm randomly rang in the restroom - I was confused and wondered (if because of a messy bathroom floor) if I had inadvertently hit a button. Again, the treatment from the hostess staff was dismissive, and management was insufficiently present or engaged. An apology would have been appropriate. The food and ambiance are first rate. But the game needs to be elevated if guests are to experience dining worthy of this brand or the prices it commands.
