    I always look forward to dining in any Ivy Collection restaurant and Harrogate is one of my favs. I appreciate that it is the end of a busy and stressful season; however, this was a disappointing visit in some respects. The food, as always, was excellent and I want to be clear that the service received from Rania was superb: friendly, personalised and professional. The issue seems to be the way the restaurant is being run (or certainly during Friday’s service). There was one server for an enormous number of tables and it was clear that she was run off her feet, particularly as a result of a loud and demanding table in her section. Two suited supervisors or managers were busy doing absolutely nothing for the time I was dining. This is really annoying to see when it takes more than 20 minutes to receive a drinks order and when the bread arrived at the same time as the mains. I suspect someone rang in ill, but for managers to leave excellent staff exposed through their own laziness is really unforgivable in a premium product and would lead me to choosing other branches in the near future.

    Location is fantastic, Parliament street is very central and it’s easy to find parking nearby. Nice welcome and jackets taken at the door. Service is good but the server was extremely busy. Good was good without being great - my starter was the venison tartare which was lovely, my main was the ribeye on the bone but the steak was not as tender as I would have wished. Disappointed that the Ivy could not serve me any draft beer - I know about the Guinness issue but no other alternatives?
