We visited this restaurant at 3:30 PM when it was nearly empty, yet the food took an unexpectedly long time to arrive. When it finally did, the quality was disappointing. The onion soup was overwhelmingly cheese with very little actual soup, and the vegetarian burger was burned—after all that waiting. To their credit, they did remove the cost of the burned burger from the bill, but since we were hosting a guest, it was an embarrassing situation. Unfortunately, even with this adjustment, the meal felt overpriced for what we received. A lunch consisting of just one starter and one main course shouldn’t have cost as much as it did £50 per person , especially given the service and quality issues. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations

The food is simply shocking. It’s a shame it has gone downhill so dramatically. Staff is great but that’s not enough for a restaurant.

We have been dining at Richmond Ivy for five years, on and off. The "off" is due to the fact that the service has been painfully inconsistent, in fact, there was a period when it was so bad we just couldn't put up with it anymore and stopped going. Eventually we decided to give it another chance and for a moment the situation did seem to have improved, but in going back last night it seemed the service had deteriorated once again. Last night's meal, while delicious, was spoiled by genuinely poor and inattentive service. The cocktail and wine service was simply awful -- we had to chase down the server to bring our drinks and then our wine. The food service was somewhat better, mostly thanks to a very sweet young lady who was working hard to please, but didn't really know either the menu or the language well enough to do a stellar job. Perhaps she just needs time, but at the kind of prices charged, I don't think guests should have to train the staff. I'm not sure we'll be back anytime soon. It seems the restaurant takes its patrons for granted and has for years failed to invest in training staff properly -- or in hiring professionally trained staff. Very disappointing.

We had a superb experience, request for quiet table noted and we had a lovely little dessert surprise for our anniversary. Everything was superb and the chap that mainly looked after us was wonderful. I wish I’d taken his name. Everything wonderful, the margins clearly made on the alcohol. Fortunately I was driving. The non alcoholic cocktail range is excellent. Alcohol is a little punchy in price but I don’t want that to detract from the wonderful service. If the ivy read this I’d love to single out their lovely male waiter who served us

Very ordinary food - completely tasteless. Certainly not worth the price. Not a great experience.

Service was poor, no table cloths on the tables. Had the Sunday Roast (beef), pretty average for the £30 price tag. Beef looked and tasted as if it had been standing in the kitchen for a while. Such a shame as I normally love eating here.
