The Local Cafe and Restaurant was created to offer experiential learning opportunities for our students. The Local is located at Centennial College, Progress Campus. At The Local, the hospitality, culinary and baking students learn in the restaurant as part of their embedded courses as well as their field placement's under the direction of our Faculty, Chef and Restaurant Technicians.

From May 12 to August 13, 2025 our restaurant will offer an a la carte lunch menu from Monday to Thursday and a special BBQ Buffet on Fridays only. We aim to showcase flavours from around the globe, while highlighting Ontario suppliers on both our food and beverage menus.

    It is a teaching restaurant, so although everything wasn’t perfect, it was a fun place to try something new and experience young people trying to better themselves. The beetroot and goat cheese salad was good, the chicken thighs were cooked well but the haddock in the fish tacos was over-cooked and needed less Fish and more accouterments.

    Fantastic and quick service. Delicious food. Amazing, polite and attentive staff. This is a hidden gem in Scarborough worth coming to every time. These students will one day do amazing things in their future careers.
