   I was worried after over a year of waiting that it might not meet the expectations…but it did…and some!! From the Scotch Egg starters, the Sunday Roast Combo for 5 and the delicious desserts (which none of us had room for, but weren’t going to miss out after the first two courses). I’ve eaten in some outstanding restaurants globally, even Michelin starred. This was literally different gravy. It didn’t underwhelm, the meat melted…dissolving in your mouth, while still bursting with flavour. The carrots were insane, the red cabbage, the pork belly, Yorkshire’s, the horseradish sauce that was a light creamy foam…I could go on. Oh and I happened to have the best cocktail I’ve ever had, The Pink Velvet…in a pub…yes a pub!! Is it worth the wait…yes…100%. The staff were also brilliant. Thank you!! We will be back.

   Had a great meal with family, atmosphere was great. Was sat right by the food which was a great experience! Very friendly staff, food was fantastic and it was a joint birthday, was a nice touch for the restaurant to give 2 donut deserts to the birthday guests! Would definitely visit again

   The meal was supposed to be a special occasion celebrating 60 years of marriage. Also it was a Birthday celebration. Having spoken to the events manager informing her of this I asked that as the couple did not have any camera and no mobile phone could a member of staff take a few pictures of the event. She asked and I gave her my email so pictures would be forwarded. No pictures were taken. Having been a master butcher for 58 years Michael Feller (formerly M Feller & daughter Oxford) ordered with Elizabeth his wife steaks his knowledge of meats is unparalleled. The steaks were hugely disappointing on top of this the extra charges for vegetables etc was very annoying. Unable to eat their meals they left after offering to pay as they have no card their offer of cash was initially refused. After negotiations cash was accepted they were offered alternative meals which they declined they did not ask for any discount however the restaurant did refund some money. Not accepting cash is discrimination The meal was ruined and so was the day. Also after all the trouble taken no pictures were taken or sent so as far as I’m concerned Lore of the Land ranks very low on customer service. Michael and Elizabeth wanted to try Lore of The land based on videos which were on instagram and other sites I would urge caution as appearances can be deceptive.    After arriving at the restaurant we were shown a small table for 8, one side with a bench type seat which no way would fit 4 people on, so I had to ask for another chair. Ordered drinks, all food, then food and 2 of us were gluten free and I had also put that in my booking when I was called up to confirm. One dinner arrived fine and I asked if the crazy was all gluten free to which the server didn’t know, my dinner sat infront of me for over 10 mins getting cold. To which the gravy was gluten free. The other gf dinner arrived with a Yorkshire pudding on the plate, when I reminded them it was suppose to be gf, the server suggested that you can just take off the Yorkshire pudding. I was so shocked as allergies and intolerances should never be handled in such a careless way. We had booked this table over a year ago, yes the food flavours were nice, but the experience and service was shocking! I don’t expect to go to any restaurant and fear that the food is not taken seriously when I have a sever intolerance. Even when I said to the server, that’s not how it should be treated she just said “yeah yeah” over and over, no apology, nothing! I was utterly disappointed and outraged and felt unsafe if any of the food was even gf after that! I urge the staff to have more training around allergies and intolerances, maybe even with a sticker to remind servers as they deliver to the tables. Although a good server would remember their allergy clientele. I’m utterly disappointed as this was for my son’s birthday whilst he was home from university. We recommended it to our friends and honestly speaking we go to many high end restaurants as well as local restaurants and this was some of the poorest service I’ve ever had especially at this price point. Our pizza express has more attention to detail than what we had today :(

   Worth the hype and the wait! Made my reservation over 10 months ago and had been looking forward to the experience ever since. It didn’t disappoint, everything was simply superb. The meats were simply melt in the mouth delicious and the roast potatoes can’t be beaten. Can’t wait to return!

   Great experience and food excellent. Only issues was food was not hot enough. Yorkshire puddings near enough cold as were the plates and gravy.

   For the price it was really good. Excellent options, especially the wines and desserts. Lovely ambience, very friendly staff. My wife ordered some cherry cocktail concoction, it was the nicest cocktail I think I’ve ever had. House lager was also really good. Definitely recommend

    To be honest I was slightly disappointed. We had the sharing roast for 4, whilst all meat was tasty and tender, there was no pink beef or leg of lamb. Lamb shoulder was delicious, chicken was ok. Only veg was red cabbage and carrots, and the Carrots were incredibly salty. They do a very good Bloody Mary. Overall, I’ve had better roasts elsewhere.
