As usual the food was lovely and plentiful. One small personal issue is the chicken lacked some flavour and held oil and ribs could have been cooked for longer. My partners mixed grill was cooked as asked and fat removed from meats as requested. There was plenty there

On arrival we stood at the bar waiting to be seated. The waitress at the till totally ignored us. She seemed to be struggling with whatever she was doing. We were shown to a table with menus, told she would come back to take orders. Eventually I gave up waiting and went to the bar. The same waitress took our order. Again she struggled with the till and had to seek help. Eventually I managed to order 3 meals and 3 drinks. Told the drinks would be served at our table. After waiting our meals arrived but no drinks. After asking again we did manage to obtain our drinks. The food was delicious. The service absolutely shocking. Have been using the Malt Shovel for 50yrs plus and will think long and hard before using it again.

I've been going to this public house for many many years even well before the Fire but after it reopened it's never looked better it's kept it traditional looks but in a modern Style the service was fantastic very helpful warming and attentive the food of all the years going to this pub I can honestly say value for money and quality is not affected and consistent with a very good menu pentia drink choices which is not often I get to the pub but when I do regret not coming more often it was nice to see the fire lit cosy warm it was lovely you can see this public house is not all about bums on seats they put care and love into this pub I'm going to try and come more often

We were seated and served promptly, there were 6 of us in our party, food came out quickly and piping hot, my husband hand the steak with garlic sauce, bit too garlicy though, i do think the food is over priced, I had a fish finger sandwich £8.95, you had to pay an extra £3.50 for chips which i think is way too much. Same goes for the drinks, pint of blue moon £5.95! Nice meal, just a bit pricey.
