   For at least 8 years we have made the Owl Cafe a definite when we visit Apalachicola. It has had its ups and downs but this last experience was one that if we did not know the restaurant, we would never go back. We made the reservation 3 weeks ago and requested a table in an area that we love and had always had before when requested. The area was not available and reminded the hostess of the request. She said that they seat people as they come in. So I said reservations aren’t honored? We ordered two glasses of wine with dinner. Dinner came waitress never checked back and we never got our wine. We paid and left. It is pretty clear that training is needed. It seems that there might be new management or something that caused the night to be terrible wrong.

   This is one of our favorite places to eat and we always look forward to it! Last night was a delightful cuisine experience however the overall experience was a solid 2 Stars. There were staff children running around the restaurant, an entire order was not even ready because it was not available. Yet, the rest of the table received their meal and one person had to wait. We have eaten all over the coast and are a super chill crew yet this was wildly disappointing. Apalachicola deserves better.

   The food and service were excellent. It was a nice and quiet dinner. The setting was more formal than a lot of the nearby choices.

   My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner, and it was an excellent experience. Our server was very attentive and helpful, and the ambiance was perfect. We ordered the both the fresh market option which was redfish over basmati rice, with artichoke hearts, as well as the linguine carbonara. Both were excellent, and had a well balanced flavor profile. The wine list is great, with something for every palate. We will definitely be back here in the future!

   Crab dip lacked flavor and resembled Tuna with very little crab if any . Fish fry was very good, however the chicken Marcella, lacked all flavor and basically was cream pasta with mushrooms and chopped pieces of grilled chicken. I even had a drumstick in the dish which I can say was a first. I do not believe any Marcella wine was used in the dish. I wanted it to be good as I was hoping to add the restaurant to my rotation.

    Food was ‘meh’ Been here many times and the food quality has declined. You can get better fried shrimp at any of the smaller restaurants around town. We had a party of 5 on a weeknight at 6:30 and even though the nicer dining room was wide open - they sat us right outside the restrooms. Totally understand the servers have sections, but we were celebrating a birthday, so the experience was ruined. Sorry to say, we won’t be back.
