About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Good for groups
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

We sat in the Herb House portion of the restaurant. It was a cozy space, and didn’t feel cramped, even when the tables were all full. The rest of the restaurant was noisy, but it wasn’t too bad where we were. Our party consisted of two adults and two children. The kids had a lot of fun, and enjoyed their meals immensely. The adults also enjoyed their meals - everything was delicious! We loved the service, and the pirate wandering through the building chatting with everyone.

We did make reservations so we were seated quickly. Our server, Tom, was attentive and informative. We liked the crab dip appetizer with pita triangles. We did not know they serve biscuits and cornbread otherwise we would have skipped the appetizer. The bread basket was delicious! My husband like his tilapia. I ordered the fried chicken. Beware .it's a lot of chicken!

We were seated promptly, our server was great and the food was fantastic. We all decided on the lunch buffet so we could sample everything, we all loved the fried chicken, sweet potatoes and biscuits! We liked everything we tried and were glad to visit this authentic Savannah restaurant!

This place was recommended to us by a friend who visited Savannah who really loved it. The history of the place was really cool and interesting. We went for the lunch buffet and the food was pretty good for a buffet. The server we had was new but you wouldn’t have known it. He did a great job. Overall a pretty cool place and the price was great!

We went for an 80th birthday. They did tell the birthday girl happy birthday when we entered, but then nothing else happened. We even asked for pirate hats so we could get a funny group photo, but they were never brought over. The food was good and the server was nice and very informative, but the lack of celebration was very disappointing. The building is very cool. I'm glad we went, but we should have picked a different restaurant for such a special occasion.

Food was delicious - shrimp & grits, soup, salad, chicken salad sandwich, & 2 kids burgers with fries. All in the empty plate club! 🙌🏻 Fun atmosphere, delicious food, and great service! ⭐️

I love the Pirate House, it is my favorite restaurant in all of Savannah. It’s rich history, amazing food, and great service has me always wanting more. There is no greater value than the lunch buffet!

The Pirates' House never disappoints! Great historical (and ghostly!) atmosphere. Although it caters to families, the menu is still sophisticated enough to provide you an up-scale dining experience. You pay for it, but not as much as you will many other five-star restaurants in the area.
