The Prancing Stag offers a consistently very high standard of cuisine. Each detail of the meal is carefully crafted, exquisitely presented, and utterly delicious. The service is delightful, unobtrusive yet helpful and informative. The background music is at a volume that doesn’t drown out conversation, and the dining area is warm and welcoming. Those of us who live in the Anniesland and Jordanhill area are fortunate to have this gem on their doorstep.

First visit and was very impressed despite only going for the restricted Itison menu. Saw the forthcoming Christmas menu and would have everything on it. Ambience is relaxed and low key and all the better for it.

What a find this charming little place is – tucked away in Jordanhill, it has to be G13's best kept culinary secret. The food was delicious, starting off with Stornaway black pudding that came with a highly complementary apple purée, topped with a crispy fried egg. For mains we had venison (an Instagram-worthy plate, according to my brother) and Loch Fyne scallops, perfectly cooked and served with an Indian cauliflower bhaji – a fusion worthy of Master Chef. Dessert brought yummy sticky toffee pudding, apple crumble for mum (she devoured the lot, enough said) and a dessert wine for the bargain price of £4.50. In fact, the market menu is just £30 a head for three courses – astonishing good value these days, especially given the quality of the food. The experience was nicely rounded off with an impressive yet reasonably priced wine list, plus friendly and knowledgeable but unobtrusive service. All in all, a great find indeed – maybe I should have kept it to myself before it becomes so popular that I can't get a table next time I'm up in Glasgow!
