The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes.

We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.

Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining from our hand-cranked Asado and Rotisserie Grills.

    Lovely lunch at a pub I used to visit as a child. It was great to be back. A real countryside treat in such a fabulous old building. The staff were very friendly and chatty, it felt very welcoming. The website describes food as traditional pub food however I think that’s an understatement as it’s verging on fine dining. Will be back to sample more of the menu.

    Excellent all round. Childrens menu very limited. Staff very friendly and professional. Food was beautiful. Restaurant very clean and set out well. Toilets immaculate. Plenty of parking. Lovely, cosy bar area.

    Great to see the punch bowl open again and serving excellent beer from local breweries and amazing local food really nice staff, highly recommend this place, punch bowl chill chips a must with a pint 👍

    A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with our meal. My friend is vegan and they adapted a meal for them as well as going through the vegan options on the wine menu. Delicious food all round and a lovely atmosphere.

    Really lovely evening spent listening to the music of Isabel Inkcap. They had worked hard to create the right atmosphere and seating. The food was tasty and good service. A really great evening definitely be back.
