Reserved a “barrel” for dinner. Told by host that “barrel number 1 is all ready for you .” We went in, table was not cleaned or set up. Heat wasn’t on. Pillows on the floor. We went in looking to ask someone for help… waited about 5 minutes and no one was anywhere to be found. We left. Didn’t get a phone call ( even up until now, 2 hours later). Would absolutely not recommend this experience.

We reserved one of the whiskey barrels for dinner, hoping for a cozy experience on a cold night. While the barrel was slightly warmer than the outdoor chill, it didn’t get much warmer by the end of the meal, so I recommend dressing appropriately if you plan to dine here in colder weather. The menu selection was decent and met our expectations for variety. To sample a bit of everything, we ordered from different sections, including ramen, sandwiches, pizza, appetizers, and desserts. Unfortunately, the ramen was disappointing—the broth was fine, but the rest was nearly inedible. The egg looked unappetizing and seemed like it could upset your stomach, while the beef was tough and chewy, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The pizzas were also a letdown. Despite the open kitchen giving the impression of fresh, amazing pizzas, the reality didn’t match the expectation. Thankfully, the sandwiches were okay and provided some redemption. For dessert, we ordered a cake meant to resemble s’mores, which my kids usually love. However, they only took a small nibble and left most of it untouched. The appetizers were average—neither particularly good nor bad. In my opinion, this place is better suited for lunch or daytime snacks rather than dinner. I’d recommend skipping the full dinner experience and instead coming for cocktails and appetizers before heading elsewhere for a meal, or perhaps stopping by for a post-dinner photo op in the whiskey barrel for the ambiance.

We were super excited to have dinner in one of the Stranahan barrels despite the poor reviews. Everything everyone said was spot on. My husbands meatball sub came out before our drinks even did, which was too salty for him to eat. I ordered ramen which had zero options for modifications…. wish I could have added some chicken. Luckily I asked one of the staff for water before he left… he looked at me like I had three eyes. Don’t do this for a proper meal, it would be more ideal for a snack in the afternoon

Terrible service and very marginal food. Beautiful place that should be busy all the time. We had 6 people and of all restaurants we tried in steamboat.. the worst!

We booked after having been told about the whiskey barrel experience w whiskey flights. They no longer do that, unfortunately. It’s different sitting outside in a cozy whiskey barrel, but you’re ordering the same food court food as you would inside, without having the convenience of salt, pepper, extra napkins. You order off a QR code, no waitress, and have to go inside with any questions, or to get salt, etc. Food was just ok. Not great. Pass without the whisky flight experience or other gimmick.

Chicken was great. Steaks were over cooked. Servers were nice but several errors.

We did the whiskey barrel experience. I would highly recommend it. Food was just OK but the service and drinks were great! Watching the fireworks and light show from the barrel was an awesome experience!

This was supposed to be a food and whiskey experience in a barrel -a chef curated menu that paired well with the whiskey flights. It was nothing of the sort. We ordered food off of the QR code that was the standard menu for the restaurant. It came out sporadically and at times cold. We did have one nice waiter, who tried to make the experience better and bring us a few whiskey flights. Other than that we didn’t see anybody and it was hard to get napkins and water as we were so far out of the restaurant. If the restaurant spent a little bit more time on this experience, it would be very special, but they choose not to put any effort into it.
