   The Refuge has so much potential to be an outstanding restaurant but falls short on a few things that are honestly easy to sort out. The meat (pork and beef cheek) were cooked beautifully but the beef was cold. The veg and sides were nice but overall the meal was so dry as there was little to no sauce. It also needs to be explained that a large plate still isn't a full meal so this is where the meal becomes outrageously overpriced for what it is, especially when its cold and you then have to buy sides and sauces for it to be edible. The hardest parts of the food were done well so clearly the chefs are talented, just need to improve the sides etc. The service could be improved, my partner ordered a Guinness and was then just brought a dark ale with no explanation? If someone asked for white wine you wouldn't bring them red wine as a substitute as they aren't the same. They came back for a check in which was good, but this was 1 minute after the meal was served so was hard to give honest feedback when we'd just started eating. The setting and the ambience was amazing, perfect for me. Really beautiful decor, the lighting was perfect and with some improvements on the food this could be somewhere really special. Also the menus are ugly and don't match the restaurants branding at all.

   Our order was wrong when it arrived and the food wasn’t very warm unfortunately. The venue itself is amazing just disappointed with the restaurant, sorry!

   One of the worst experience ever. Me and my family wait for more than a hour and the staff told us they lost our order. And some dishes we want were already sold out.

   Had to send one of the dishes back as it was cold Should of sent another one back really but couldn’t be bothered Place was completely dead so I don’t get how the food wasn’t hot Took half hour nearly to get the first drinks we ordered too when we sat down at the food table Again don’t know why it was very quiet Food was still good like it has been in the past when I’ve been But considering how quiet it was service wasn’t up to par and shouldn’t be serving cold food

   One of the best roasts I’ve ever had! The vegan wellington is amazing! Lots of different flavours teamed with lovely veggies, roasties & gravy - everything works well together. The Vimto red cabbage is delicious! The staff were lovely and friendly. We were given a good amount of time to relax, have a drink and look over the menu. Gorgeous setting with a lovely ambience. Would highly recommend

   We arrived a few minutes early (better than a few minutes late?) and we were told to wait in the bar although we could see many empty tables. The bar was completely bonkers and the queue for a drink was extremely long, plus the noise was excessive . We went back to the diner reception desk and just waited and a table was found for us. It was not a good experience, particularly as this was our first visit to you.
