Set on Mitchell Hill, a medieval route from the city of Truro to the East, in a quiet, historical quarter, The Rising Sun is the hub of the local community and a destination for visitors to the county. Surrounded by charming lanes with views to the cathedral, diverse historical buildings, an abundance of trees and greenery.
Seven years ago Katie & Tom Hannon stepped into a very dark and sad shell of a pub. An overwhelming amount of work paled into insignificance against the excitement at what they thought could be created in this out of the way building with a very long and interesting history. A lot of hard labour ensued to create their vision of showcasing the best qualities of a modern pub; seamlessly combining carefully sourced, sophisticated yet familiar food and drink in a welcoming authentic pub environment. Elegant, delicious food alongside fantastic local beers, unusual wines and a great array of craft spirits all wrapped up in a relaxed atmosphere.

    Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!!! This was our first visit to celebrate a family birthday and we will definitely be back! Decorated beautifully for Christmas with wonderful trees and lights, the atmosphere was very homely and cosy. Waitresses were fab, really engaging and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food was beautiful, one of the best roast dinners I’ve ever eaten! All in all FANTASTIC! What a find!

    We had the set menu , the food was absolutely delicious & served by their very attentive & friendly staff . Can't recommend this restaurant enough .

    Fantastic Christmas meal, would highly recommend. The beef was melt in the mouth and gorgeous puddings. Staff were attentive and helpful. Can’t wait to return! Pricey but worth it.

    Excellent food and ambience. Meat based roast dinners very enjoyable as all elements of meal, including vegetables well cooked and plenty of them. Knives needed to be sharpened though! The vegetarian amongst us thought hers was the best vege roast she had had. Decent 0% lager. Puds gorgeous but maybe slightly heavy duty on top of the roast! All small niggles - we felt welcome and will definitely be back!

    The quality standard and attention to detail was superb, the best meal in a pub restaurant I've had in years. The staff were xexcellent, friendly and worked extremely hard when the restaurant was pa k. We will be back, if your looking for a quality restaurant with quality food then this is the place, it is on the pricey side but we'll worth that for the standard of food. Thank you
