The Roebuck Inn is an historic coaching inn with rooms, in the heart of the Sussex countryside where the South Downs meet the woodlands of the Sussex Weald.
We have an extensive range of beers with an emphasis on Sussex Brewers, ably supported by the best small brewers from further afield, and a daily changing menu incorporating wonderful local ingredients, many supplied by our neighbours in the village.

We were served by a lovely lady at the bar who was taking all the orders on her own, who I think was quite new to the job or to recent changes to the menu maybe. I felt for her having no support. She was very apologetic for any delay in taking orders and I could see it upset her that she couldn’t do her job to her full potential. But she certainly gave it her all. One guy seemed to bring the food to the tables and I didn’t see any other waiting staff. They were both really lovely friendly people. And it didn’t affect our visit. But I did feel they could have done with another pair of hands to support them. The food was lovely. The kids burgers were a good size and a nice quality meat. The pub itself is cosy and friendly. We will return. Thanks.

Food was very good - we had steak and the pie, very good portions. Coffee was good, and service was fine except that, considering how quiet it was, the staff appeared less attentive/present than they might have been.

Waited 3/4 for a roast - asked for no yorkshire pudding but cheeseed cauliflower instead - no- one asked about allegens or celiac disease - received a yorkshire pudding , roast potatoes looked & tasted like ready made frozen ones - sexist misogynistic graffiti all over the gents & old fashioned insinuating supposed 'jokie' plagues in the ladies.....no one informed us it would be santa run day which would have been nice to know. We would have stayed for a pud but the service was too slow so we didn't bother - my last visit to eat in this pub was 25 years ago.......nothing has changed & needs updating, rather shocked!

A very enjoyable experience all round. Very generous portions, great value and relaxing atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautifully decorated for Christmas and would be a perfect place for a Christmas party.

Terrific lunch. Very nice staff. Delicious food and generous portions. And quick service. Nice ambiance too - with a bustling bar, but plenty of room.

I was delighted to find that The Roebuck could accommodate a late booking at such a busy time of the year having booked late the night before for a 1:30pm table seating. At every stage, the staff were very warm and welcoming, polite and helpful which was great to see. Ordering was very straightforward (at the bar) with no long queues or slow service. The food arrived relatively quickly and was to a very good standard - delicious roast with a variety of accompanying veg and the obligatory large and tasty Yorkie. The pub keeps a very very good pint of Harveys Best which was an added bonus. We then proceeded to throw a curveball and ask for two afogatos, which were not on the menu and needed a little explanation. After a little while, we were presented with out prize which topped off the meal perfectly. A big thanks to all the staff for their flexibility and warm welcome. We shall be back!

Can not fault the food, service, staff, atmosphere. My concern was that two burgers, one fish and chips, 1 Guinness, 1 cider and 1 lemonade came to £70
