    Visited for our usual Friday lunch of fish and chips. Monday is the start of renovations so are interested to see the end result. Work has already started with the dining room blocked off. Pleased to see Black Sheep beer on tap.

    Called in for an early breakfast on New Year's Day morning. We were greeted with a friendly welcome, as always. Today was Paul, but all the staff make us feel welcome. Breakfast was served hot and quickly, and as always with top quality products. A good start to 2025 at The Royal for us 😊

    Excellent plates of food, including a perfectly cooked medium venison wellington and a turkey dinner. Our compliments to the Head Chef. Staff were engaging, polite and responsive. An enjoyable 2 hours, with a nice dry rose wine and ipa. The Royal, Bolton leans is a very good Gastro Pub.
