   If you’re looking for a lunch that’s innovative but not too left-field, with very nicely matched wines and a lovely outlook, Derwent Estate is a wonderful choice. It’s our favourite spring, summer and autumn venue but we’ve never tried it in winter. The dining area is an open sided shed, with drop-down clear plastic sides, built on the site of an original farm building. It’s been built to maximise the views over the Derwent River and is positioned to take in the sun. The menu show-cases local produce and is beautifully prepared, the service is excellent and the wines - especially the Pinot Gris and Riesling - are first class. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy any special occasion or an unplanned, off the cuff meal.

   Such a beautiful outlook over the river. We had a long lunch for our anniversary and the food and wine was delicious, our waiter was really lovely too! Would definitely recommend for any visitors.

   Our booking was for 3 mature age couples celebrating a 60th birthday. The booking process, greeting on arrival, table service, ambience, food and wine were outstanding. The only negative was that it did become a little noisy with the restaurant became full. Although we were the last to leave, we were not made to feel rushed out the door. The views to either the vineyard or to the Derwent River were admired too.

   Beautiful lunch to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday (just the two of us). We had arancini, salmon rillette, pork belly, duck breast, mousse dessert and the cheesecake. All items were divine and excellent portion sizes. Beautiful presentation, delicious flavour/texture combinations and value for money. Service was lovely, friendly and not in-your-face. Scenery and wine always superb. Thank you
