   Thoroughly disappointing. Table booked for 1pm and didn’t get served with food until 2.20pm after chasing. Only ordered 2x burgers and a salmon with rice. After initially being served with one round of drinks for three people, wasn’t offered any further drinks and wasn’t kept up to date with any delays. Had to approach the bar twice to order two further rounds of drinks whilst waiting. After enquiring about the delay, the server then checked what time our booking was for before advising that they had two large bookings in and that our order was next. No apology given. Also one of the large bookings of ten people actually arrived 10 minutes after us yet were served before us. As was another table of two people. They were also kept served with numerous rounds of drinks for their bottomless brunch by the servers. After raising our enquiry we were then avoided by the server for the rest of our stay and were not asked if we had enjoyed our meal when paying. Felt like we were completely unseen and then as though we had done something wrong after chasing our food. Been here for food on numerous occasions but will be avoiding after this latest experience. Food was average and was definitely not worth the wait!

   We had a slight delay in accessing our table however the reason for this was explained on arrival and we were kept up to date, sat comfortably while we waited. Food was lovely and service great. Would definitely recommend.

   Very accommodating with the dog. Appreciated the fact that although I'd made a mistake and not declared the dog when booking, the manager sorted it out, no fuss and with a smile. Brilliant. Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere.

   We booked the star at cotton; we were really looking forward to returning. We’ve been quite a few times and really enjoyed ourselves. Last night however(24.01.25), we visited. We arrived on time and were promptly taken to our table . After taking our drinks and food order; we patiently waited. We started to notice that people all around us had all had their meals and ours had still not arrived. Please note that these people had arrived quite some time after us. My partner found it necessary to question where our food was. 90mins had now passed. The waiter told us they had a problem with their ovens- not sure how everyone else was receiving their meals though with this poor excuse. The meals finally arrived and it was to a very poor standard. Nothing like what we’d had on our previous visits. They knocked the price of 2 drinks off our bill. I can’t see us returning to this venue; which is unfortunate as we loved it before.

   Very poor service we have been lots of times recommend to friends but last night 7pm no fish and also the meals not came out together the gammon approx 20 mins later then the egg another 20 mins later the steak peppercorn sauce came when finished meal and had to ask for the gravy to come with the pie meals there were 8 in our party and the service very poor I do not agree that service charge is added prior to giving the bill either and it was not worth it very disappointed we use it a lot but put us off

   We've been to the star on a few occasions and it's always been lovely. It's a gorgeous characterful building, usually with a cosy fire going. The staff are friendly and attentive. There's a wide choice of beers and spirits available and the cocktails are great. The food is delicious and for me one of the main things I love is how locally sourced the produce is.

   The food was OK but the service was a little slow and never before have I, along with many other diners, had to wear a heavy outdoor coat the whole time because the room was so cold.
