    We have a special place in our heart for the Fort. We have been going thetre for 54 years. The menu has been "streamlined", getting away from more difficult (and tasty) old world dishes. the wine list has been shrunk and it is primarily a beer joint now. Still, it is a vital part of Springfield andretains the spirit of hospitality in its DNA that always made us glad to enter its doors. Reliable "ratskeller" dishes like Schnitzels, Sauerbratenm Strudels won't disappoint.

    OpenTable offered us a reservation on December 26th, the day the Student Prince was closed. We drove over an hour with family from out of state for our special meal only to find in was closed. So disappointing and also extremely inconvenient. Not the Student Prince's fault, but we suggest they offer a free beer to everyone who got screwed by making online reservations.

    Nice neighborhood gem. This german restuant is well worth the visit. The food was deliciuous and extremely reasonable. They have a good selection, something for everyone. If you are into beers they also have a good selction of german beers as well as good wine selection that includes wines not typically on the average wine menu. The staff are super friendly.

    We came in off the Mass Pike, and it was easy to find the restaurant and to park. Greeted promptly, and our table was ready for us. The server was friendly and efficient, able to recite the day's specials from memory and to answer our questions about the menu. Our food came out quickly and exactly as ordered. We would stop here again when we are passing the area.
