   A little difficult to find even for a local! The signage is not very visible in the dark on windswept rainy night. Starters wise, the whipped goats cheese with beetroot was very good. Unfortunately the potted shrimp tart was undercooked with an unseemly raw mix pouring out once the pastry case was cut open. It was changed without fuss and fulsome apologies but disappointing nonetheless. The main courses were much better and the venison loin and cod, fennel and shellfish sauce are both highly recommended. Overall a pleasant meal in good experience but given the price point I probably expected better.

   Delicious food Only thing I would have changed was bread with the soup instead of sourdough Wine was too expensive too.

   overall our experience was great. not too stuffy, attentive, knowledgable staff good choice on the menu good wine list Our only gripe was that our steaks weren't great... they were cooked on a low heat so had no crust / bark / Maillard reaction so were missing a bit of flavour / texture. Also I personally don't like my steak sliced up for me.. all the starter bits were great. the fish and chips were massive and the slow-cooked rib super complex and rich.

   I would highly recommend The Tartan Fox. The food was absolutely delicious and just a lovely place to go for lunch.

   Fabulous food and the staff were lovely, very attentive and friendly. Would have preferred to sit downstairs as I felt the atmosphere was better, but overall it was lovely.

   Chilly premises. Had black pudding bon bons which were very hard and not enjoyable. Smashed beefburger and fish and chips quite good in taste and size for the cover value. Desserts okay but very small for £11/£12 each. Not worth what is charged. On the booking form it enquired if the booking was for a special occasion. I denoted it was a birthday treat. But no reference to it was made. So what was the point. Staff were mostly pleasant and attentive apart from arrival which was quite muted given we had travelled over 30 miles in challenging wind conditions. Would have thought they would have been more pleased to see us. Overall, an average experience and we will not be returning.

   Very convivial atmosphere and friendly and attentive service levels. Delicious cuisine, our starter of BBQ mussels was absolutely delicious.

    This wasour first visit and really enjoyed the whole experience, the team were warm annd welcoming and thought the herb patch is a great addition. Loved the art and our waitress was very knowledgeable
