The Union Hotel, Ascot Vale is a venue full of surprises.

Built in 1878, the Heritage-listed prominent corner hotel has always been a popular place to catch up with friends & celebrate that special event.

Located in the heart of the Melbourne Racing precinct, the venue comprises several large and spacious areas catering to the individual, small casual groups & larger events.

Our Bistro Bar opens up into a wonderful all-weather beergarden, featuring a retractable roof and heaters to protect from Melbourne's unpredictable weather!

Bookings are recommended, but we will usually have tables available for walk ins.

The Trivia Announcer kept yelling in the mic. The food was amazing. Service amazing.

Again the meals and venue were great however, I was disappointed with the overall booking. I made the booking a month ago and requested a specific table, as I always do each month. When I arrived a staff member informed me that we had been moved to a different table in a different area. I explained that this would be a problem because people have been informed of the particular table and those don't know the other attendees will go to the wrong table. I was told by the male staff member that they had booked the table before me and there was no attempt by him to rectify the situation. I then went to the occupants of the table I originally booked to ask if they could kindly tell our attendees where we were, and they happily obliged. When I informed them of the situation, they informed me that they had only recently booked the table which demonstrated that the male staff member had lied to me by saying the other group had booked before me.

Came here as a small family group. Bit of a trip down memory lane as this is where our grand father drank many years ago. The staff were amazingly friendly and the food was great. A lit has changed over the years since my Poppy would take me in after going to work with him, but its still got that old school pub feel. Thank you guys for a great lunch and trip down memory lane

Lovely food. Terrific, friendly service from both bar staff and TAB staff. It might not be practical, but as we attended with the view of watching the races (Oaks Day), I would have liked to be able to hear the Channel 78 racing coverage (although I suppose I could've asked for the volume to be turned up). Overall though a big thumbs up.
